Those night vision shots are very atmospheric, the slow-mo effect rather adds to the feel of them I think.

Some very lovely light in that opening shot of the 2857. 76017 making an excellent sound, with 10 on, very impressive. Fabulous shot at 4:50. And the sound from City of Wells up Eardington Bank was just breathtaking.

A thoroughly enjoyable video from the SVR steam gala John. Excellent coverage of this top event. Regards - Allan.

A good selection of the action there John at good locations. I don't think I've been to an SVR gala that was as busy as this one. As you say the railway coped well with some difficulties as you would expect from such a professional organisation.

Excellent video mate, wish I could of gone, did the overnight a few years ago was a great experience. Pity the dark video is slow motion but it still looks superb, I would be tempted to put up with it for the brighter view.

Brilliant video! The fire service must have passed you when you were on your way up the lane as 75069 caused a line side fire!
@bentullett60685 жыл бұрын
Poor Q class was relegated to local services after Friday as she struggled with the full rake of carriages which made her cause a few lineside fires, further investigation found there was a small crack around one of the tubes in the boiler. A few other engines caused a few fires as well.

A wonderful coverage of the event John, great camera work and location choices. The Night time option is OK for still subjects, and whilst the sound is real time, the image is not...I used to have that function many years ago....Regards...Bob

It is indeed John, the last time I used a night vision facility, I was at Bewdley on the SVR, the results were excellent as everything was static, however any movement was Ghost like, but as the sound is real time, the Brain accepts it for what it is, so an useful tool in the right conditions....Regards...Bob

Hi Bob, what do you mean by 'the Brian' lol. As we have same camera (amongst others) do you utilise the backlight compensation in poor light, I often find it quite useful. Regards, Brian.
@robmasterman5 жыл бұрын
Sorry Brian it should have read Brain!...what am I like eh" I use the Ai+ in most conditions, as the camera seems to compensate superbly in all lighting conditions...I only ever use manual in lighting conditions that require it such as adjusting the white balance settings. To be honest, if the conditions are that bad, is it worth capturing the subject anyway.....Best wishes...Bob

I know that's what you meant but it's surprising how many people write my name as 'Brain' too!! Yes, mines on A+i most of the time and I agree it responds well in most conditions..... Brian.

Beautiful footage, John! I hope to visit the UK sometime this decade. It has been my ultimate dream forever to visit the motherland. I am a British railway modeller myself and I have a Great Western Railway branch line in OO scale. I am based in South Australia and apart of the British Railway Modellers of Australia. We have some pretty impressive British layouts here in this state and most of those can be found on my channel. You're more than welcome to visit my channel anytime if you wish. Great work once again and thanks for sharing with us. Cheers Caleb

Nice bit of filming, John, and enjoyed the night shots. Could you not speed them up again, in your editor?
@rjas3655 жыл бұрын
Superb video, thanks John, with the conditions enabling wonderful colour tones throughout the day. Was that a drone I saw at 03:15? (no suggestion of it being anything to do with you!) Those Eardington Bank panned shots of 2857 and 34092 were a joy to watch. The Bewdley sequences were most interesting, as was your night vision experiment - very impressive detail compared to the standard available light shots; is it a silly suggestion to split the video and audio tracks in the editor, speed up the video and use the audio from a separate concurrent source at normal speed? Apologies if that is silly and all much enjoyed anyway. Kind regards, Bob.

lovely coverage John, was this the event last year you had the snow? A shame your night vision records slow motion, have you tried manual adjustment or backlight compensation to lift the lighting? Regards, Brian.
