I'm a very happy, well adjusted 72 year old employed as a prominent electronic engineer in my field. As a rule I ignore any post 2000 music. When I first found this I was concerned about how"dark" it initially seemed with beautiful melodies. Let me preface this by saying that one of the things central to my happiness is going on walks in the desert and see old things, think about old things, old people, old times. My own melancholy makes me happy. Perhaps I am well adjust to the spectrum of human feelings and I'm happy because I can feel sad. Long story. My interest in this song is becoming like that, I find it a beautiful treatise on all the subjects you have discussed. The seeming darkness is beautiful melody as it should be. Your analysis is spot on. This is the first post 2000 new music that I am absolutely enjoying. Amazing artist and piece of music.
