I'm a huge Washington fan, and this DLC acknowledges something about him. There was support in the army for Washington to undermine the Congress and become a more authoritarian figure, he was the one with the soldiers after all. He refused. George III called him "the greatest character of the age" for it. Napoleon Bonaparte, the French Revolutionary General who did the exact opposite, remarked during one of his exiles "They wanted me to be another Washington." The question remains though, what if his character had been more like Napoleon?

Like the others with him, Franklin is most likely under the influence of the Apple. Even if he hated tyranny of any sort, the Apple would force his thinking of otherwise. Removal of the Apple's influence automatically turned him into an ally, as well as sober the others when their time comes.
