You should try 2yds or 2 1/2 yds of fabric for the adult size.

WARNING for anyone attempting this with thicker fleece, the top band is nearly impossible even with a walking foot! My machine keeps locking up because it's too thick. I'm so frustrated right now. I wish I had just made the lining longer and folded it over. There's no point in having a separate band. I guess I'm going to attempt to hand sew.
