I learn something new every day with Mimi, such a great inspiration. The idea of hanging the garment for 24 hours before hemming is pure genius.

So helpful! I am about to sew this exact skirt with same type of fabric, and these tips are amazing (especially using ribbon and the way to insert the zip!)! Thank you.

Skirt turned out well, but I under stitched the ribbon/facing (vs. just a side seam stitch in the ditch), like the pattern shows, which made it stay turned under better.

Lovely skirt, beautiful fabric and fit I wonder, however, if the skirt stretches around the hips from wear. Does it lose its form if one is larger around the hips? Also, the hem line appears to be stretched or ruffled. Is that how it should be? Just wanting to be aware for when I make this project. Overall, great video with good helpful info for bias projects. Thank you It looks wonderful on you.

Thanks Mimi for the helpful bias sewing tips. The single layer cutting lay out uses more fabric, but it's worth it.

I recently discovered your Chanel and I’m hooked!!!! I’m learning how to sew and I am practicing my seams, I absolutely love the French seam, I think its so celan and makes the garment look less homemade (all my stuff looks home made) .. is it possible to do both, invisible zipper and French seam? If so how can I instal an invisible zip using the seam ?

This is such a great tutorial! I wish I would have watched it before attempting to sew my first bias skirt with zipper because I did everything wrong, I pulled on the fabric and I stretched and now it doesn't lay flat at the zipper when I put it on. Is there a way to fix stretched-out fabric, or did I waste the project? I even tried interfacing the zipper to try and stabilise it... to no avail. Help, please!

Hi mimi welldone on your videos. Could you people elaborate on the term stay stitching thanks or anyone else really thank you
@louiselill15285 жыл бұрын
Stay stitching is a 1/4 " seam that you sew to stop the garment stretching when you sew . You will find that dresses or blouses / shirts patterns ask you to stay stitch around the neck to stop the garment stretching Hope this helps
