So cute! I enjoyed your tutorial for this pattern. One hint you might find helpful is that you can gently curve the bias binding when you're pressing out one side. This makes it even easier to place and pin around neck and arm holes. I'm glad you used purchased binding. People get so wigged out about it. I once had someone tell me that purchased binding makes clothes look homemade and I disagree. I use purchased binding and have it in every color of the rainbow - including black. Thanks for this helpful video!😃

Vivmom Sews I have really struggled with store bought bias tape! I hav a lot of it from a charity shop grab bag but I totally quit using it. This video makes it look so nice, maybe I will give it another chance.

This was so helpful!!!! Please do more “sew with mes!!” I’m trying to teach myself how to sew and so many patterns I see in the store don’t have turtorials on them like this!

Megan Sullivan Yes I actually do! I got patterns on sale the other day that were the “easy” level... if only hey were that easy lol I’d love to see the NewLook pattern 6456 done. It’s a wrap dress. Also McCalls M7942 and M7120.

I wish that i had learned to tie decorative knots when i was as young as you. The monkey’s fist is a spherical knot that can be used as a button and the ends can be sewn into the seam. Then use a simple over hand knot on a loop sewn into the other side to complete closure.

The bias tape gives the project a really neat look. Nicely finished. The only problem might be fitting as you go, if you need it. Seems to fit you well and looks really cute. I love this pattern. Thanks for showing us how you did it.

Your sewing is great. Just a little tip to save you the hassle of digging out your pins, you should put them up and down instead of across. They will be easier to pull out that way. Cute dogs!

Hamm is essential for certain pressing, I used to not realize, until I bought one. What a difference. I got mine 50% off which helped. 😀💕

Love the look of this top and you did a really nice job of sewing it together. I also like the finished look that the bias tape gave the seams. I'm a beginner and I think I'm going to try that as an alternative to serging. Curious about how you did your hem. Did you do a narrow hem and could you use bias tape there as well? PS...your dogs are adorable and Peanut is a real cutie!!!

How many inches did you press for the back opening for the hook and eye and how many inches did you sew for side seams and shoulders seams?

With basting thread, unless the fabric is very delicate, I put one line at 1/2”, and 6/8. Then when you sew on 5/8 it will give perfect gathers with no twisting or weird catches. After sewing it together, pull out the basting stitches.

GOOD MORNING, THANK YOU FOR RESPONDING BACK TO ME, I'M LEARNING HOW TO SEW BY MYSELF, I CAME ACROSS YOUR TUTORIAL A DAY AGO, YOU MAKE IT EASY FOR ME TO UNDERSTAND HOW TO SEW A GARMENT TOGETHER, THANK YOU. I CUT THE SIZE 14 I HOPE I CAN WEAR IT, I PLACED IT A HALF IN FROM THE FOLD TO MAKE SURE I CAN WEAR IT. IS A FINISHED GARMENT MEASUREMENTS GOOD FOR YOU TO CHOOSE FROM TO MAKE A GARMENT? I'M LEARNING HOW TO READ PATTERNS, I'VE BEEN SELF DRAFTING AND SCEWING UP ALL AT THE SAME TIME, I LOVE SEWING MY OWN GARMENTS. IF YOU HAVE ANY ADVISE PLEASE LET ME KNOW.

One of the most important things I've learned, recently, is to take the measurement above the bust as your size measurement and adjust larger, other measurements, if needed. Check out Joy here at kzbin.info/www/bejne/a3SrnJ2PjdCtsJY to see why some patterns seem too large. I have had this problem all my life, till now. Amazing.
