Hi Christine. Recently my husband and I went on a trip and I needed some shoe bags. I had been using plastic bags, but found them unacceptable as the size was always wrong and I tended not to save them after my trips - a waste. So, I used your pattern and quickly sewed three of them. I used my ugliest fabric (I’m kind of a fabric hoarder) and I just loved them. I made them all the same size and the one for my husband’s shoes was a bit tight, but worked. They were quick and easy to make following your instructions. I plan on storing my shoes in them so I will need to make some more. You can hang them from hooks, the bags are breathable and they are ready for travel. One problem with that idea is that I can’t tell which shoes and in which bags. I need a tag. Do you have any ideas for a scrap buster bag/luggage tag with some of your clear vinyl? Thanks for your inspiration and clear and easy to follow instructions. Reba (Arizona)
@Brandi628 ай бұрын
You could always put a little clear vinyl window in the bag so you can see what shoes are inside.
@ChristinesHomeAffairs7 ай бұрын
Hi Reba, Brandi's idea of the clear window is what I would have suggested. I may even get to another video one of these days. For the longer shoes, you can just add a little extra to the length of the bag😀

Ands whilst I love the shopping bag…those little boxy bags are so versatile and can just about suit everyone in some way. And bonus….you can make less and make more money which is awesome. Can’t wait till next quarter to see if the momentum continues…fingers crossed it does 🤞

Those corduroy bags, are so nice. They look so soft. I can't really explain WHY, I am so fond of them, being what they are (Not that it's a bad thing). I think they would be really nice as a smushy pillow, or one of the neck rings for sleeping while sitting up. Keep up the quarterly, it's encouraging me to get up and sew. 😉

I do a few craft shows & your quarterly top 10 reports are helpful to me even though I'm in the US. This is a very helpful video. I studied privately for my years, and I was taught to always have “add on ticket items” by using scraps, and to state on the order form that designers retains all scraps. I was also taught to always have current time and motion studies (including time to order and unpack supplies orders) for two reasons: to correctly calculate my costs(including hourly rate) and then my profit, if any. Some add on ticket items had no profit margin so I usually set those aside as gifts for the customer, which became part of the advertising costs. The time and motion study helped very much for organizing the order of the steps, from unfolding the fabric to adding it to the bag/hanger,and also helped me to take a brief moment to jot down the order of steps so as to save time cutting and marking, back and forth to iron, clipping threads, changing the needle, etc. This also helped to have a concrete list of steps if my plan was to sew a portion of the project each day. Less tie trying to figure out what I had already done, what the pattern dictates etc. For patterns that iced multiple times, I kept the list of steps right in the clear bag with the rest of the pattern and samples with notes for tat pattern.
