Sew Your Stash IS BACK!!!

Back in 2017 I started the original Sew Your Stash Challenge for myself so I would stop buying new fabrics and start using what I already owned. I extended that challenge to my viewers and beyond through a FB group. It grew to 14,000+ members before the challenge came to an end in 2020.
Here we are two years later and I have an overflowing stash once again. So I decided to begin a new Sew Your Stash challenge and a new group. This time around my stash consist of a ton of thrifted curtains, outgrown clothing, fabric, and TONS of sewing patterns. I'm challenging myself to put those materials to use and challenging YOU to join me and sew through your stash (or crochet, knit, cross stitch, etc).

I am also in the process of sewing my stash. I recently had foot surgery sew I can’t get to any stores anyway but I had planned to this for awhile. I made a pillow today from an older fabric. I’m pretty pleased with it.

I really need to spend my weekend altering 6 pair of kids jeans and turn the into bellbottoms. I am just praying my vintage Good Housekeeper sewing machine can handle this project because of the thick hems on the leg bottoms. I am cheating and using thrifted jeans and thrifted skirts so I don't have to sew the hems other than trying to sew up the leg area.

I will have to join in this! I have gotten so much vinyl and bag making supplies over the last year. And haven't had nearly as much time to sew those supplies. Just earlier this week I was thinking of a bag I wanted to make and was searching online for a material to make rather than digging in my stash. I needed an orange vinyl. And I didn't have the right shade of orange. So did have to buy a roll of vinyl. But I also only bought the orange vinyl I needed. Not other vinyls as well. As well when looking for that vinyl found a great lining fabric to go with the bag. So didn't have to go out and purchase that material either. So my own personal goal is to continue doing that. If I get an idea going through seeing if there is something I can use for the bag first. And also not buying more than truly what I need when I do have to source something.

I have been sewing my stash quite a bit lately and was just thinking about when you started this Whitney! Hope you and your family is doing well! I know a lot of people like FB but I have had a couple of unpleasent experies on FB so I had to stop frequenting the forum. Would love to be a part of a group like this but FB is just not for me. So glad you are doing this again though!

@@Whitney_Sews Oh, how very kind and thoughtful of you Whitney! So far I have made several cross body bags, that I learned to make from your channel, at least a dozen reusable grocery bags, and I got through half of a quilt top yesterday. Getting lots of stuff done before the holidays!
