I'm so happy that I found your channel. My daughter just started with cloth pads. I do some sewing for myself and sometimes for other people. So my daughter asked me if I could make cloth pads. With your video's I'm sure I can. The only thing I can't buy in the Netherlands is Zorb. But I can use other fabrics. Can't wait to start. 💟💞💗💖💕💓
@corkylorenz6 жыл бұрын
You can totally do this! She will love being able to pick some prints :) Zorb isn't a must, by any means. I just chose to use it this time because I always use bamboo terry. I'm so glad that the video could be helpful!

You said you pull the strings to the back, I'm not sure how you do that? I'm a visual learner so hearing that doesn't make sense to me lol. Do you have a video of you doing that up close to the camera? Explaining how you do it? I'd love to implement this to make nicer looking pads!

I like sewing with it and don’t have issues when using pads with it. It’s just generally not requested by customers so I don’t sell pads made with it.

I recently started sewing my own cloth pads, and I have problems with side leakage. The blood absorbs outside of the core sometimes (which is super wide) and soaks the topper and backer, which in turn wets my panties. It's like I need my core to extend into my wings to prevent this from happening. Would the use of Zorb eliminate this problem? I upcycled fabric that I had on hand since it was my first time making them. I used cotton, terry cloth and polar fleece. Any advice would be helpful.
@saramach1235 жыл бұрын
I would recommend using Zorb or try extending core

What is the subsitute for zorb ? My daughter has started her periods 2 months back and she is a heavy bleeder for atleast one week, and usually all her pads leak even xxl the disposable ones. Would like to make her longer and absorbant pads. Can't get zorb here.. what about flannel or microfiber or bamboo spandex bamboo velour?

My friend told me she wears two pads or 3 during her period at a time to prevent leaks and it works

I think this is great for the environment but having a little bit of a hard time wrapping my head around the idea. How is leakage prevented, I noticed that there was no protective lining? Some people have a very heavy flow.
@tiagruner68225 жыл бұрын
The plain colored fabric on the back is likely water resistant.
@littleladyasra1315 жыл бұрын
Some people may use PUL or fleece for backing. From what I read, these materials may help avoid leaking, depending on how heavy the period is
@jessicajohnson46484 жыл бұрын
She is using what looks like a hard face windpro fleece which is an extremely water resistant (almost waterproof) fabric. You can also use anti pill fleece or pul as a backer. Providing that you have an adequate core you should not leak through your backer material

Do you (or anyone else reading this) use any specific thread material when making pads? I know the other materials are chosen to be safe/nonirritating against the body, but are there any considerations in choosing thread material? Thanks :)

I'm starting this cloth pad thing and sewing my own. I'm after my first cloth pad period and I just LOVED it, so I'm going to sew more of them since I only have like 7. I do have a question though, I was wondering, since it's never visible on any videos. when doing the last all over stitch, just for it to look nice, do you also sew through the core or is that only the top and bottom layers? I just don't want to sew through the core there if I'm not supposed to.
