I find your point of view on this super helpful, I didn’t realize there was such a thing as doom piles until recently. I was relieved to know I’m not the only one, I’m especially bad with mail and paperwork - why I don’t know. Anyways, I appreciate you and this sort of content (and of course the dyeing videos.) Thank you!

Came to your channel for the tie-dye, and am feeling pretty grateful for the side of wisdom that just came with it. 😊 As a fiftysomething white woman (who only uses Facebook for tie-dye and fights with no one, I swear 😂) with both a successful career and a half a lifetime of messes and abandoned hobbies piled in every last corner of my overstuffed little house, it truly moved me. Thank you. ❤ Going to share it with my BFF and fellow maladapted "slob" from college right now. And share some of the thoughts about trying to un-learn to only do things when your stress response is activated with my 19-year-old son, who could really use them right now. Just wanted you to know that some people on the other side of the country who you’ll never meet were helped by this. Thank you for taking the time to do it. 🥹 Also your flowy ice dye video is the bomb! 😁

Thank you so much for taking the time to share this feedback ❤️ I was nervous to veer outside my normal lanes but it is encouraging to know that you felt better from listening! I’m also still learning how to do things without pressure. If feels daunting at first but the brain is able to change and grow as long as we keep taking new action and praising ourselves for it 🥳

IMHO-not a fan of gatekeeping because most people watching KZbin videos are doing so because they want to make their own. Not sharing means they aren’t giving their KZbin customers what they came for. 🤷🏻♀️

I do prefer the no extra sprinkle of SA because it seems you get a better flow and less concentration in one area. To each his own though, Whatever works for one might not work as well for another, but I really appreciate your tutorials and your experimentation.
@StarfishTieDye19 күн бұрын
Thanks so much for the comparison. I prefer to presoak. That way, I know that soda ashes everywhere in the fabric. I do Always put some extra on top of the ice.” Just to make sure”. I think for certain types of process, I will stop doing this and see how I Feel my items come out. I like them more flowy shirt you did. Do you have a favorite t-shirt you use? Thanks
@mirandamcghee394619 күн бұрын
A follow up thought / question- presoak in SA at a lower concentration than standard formula and it’s impact on flow. (You may have done this and I’m out of the loop.)

Curious to see a comparison between pre-soaked fabric without extra soda ash and non-pre-soaked fabric. One reason I like to ice dye is because pre-soaking is a pain in the butt so I typically just sprinkle soda ash on with the dye. Now I'm curious how different my things would look with pre-soaking (I like the one without the extra soda ash, as well)
@corkylorenz19 күн бұрын

@@corkylorenz on a theme here, I like simplifying things, and I love the color mixes like the Dyespin Dark Horse dyes (especially Wild Garden and Elysian). My favorite dyes include a lot of shades of green! Thanks for being willing to try so many things out and share, it's very cool.

It sounds like we've been watching and listening to some of the same people. It's so validating! We are reparenting our younger selves. We're praising them when they can make our living spaces more livable without harming ourselves.
@corkylorenz20 күн бұрын
That feels good to know you are on the same page because I always resonate with your comments. Reparenting the child 🥹 yes! I went through a phase where I was frustrating with specific people in my life who would jokingly shame me for having too many hobbies/mess, that I totally rebelled for a while and didn’t comply at all. But then, I was like, wait I need the space to be better for ME, so I can do meaningful art. I’m hoping I can have my kids make that connection earlier than I did. 😅 I hope things keep improving for you!! Thank you for your thoughtful comments.

Very interesting. It’s very cold here now in MT and I’m running out of room. What do you think about cold water misting then flipping and doing the same to the other side. Then letting it sit for an hr then HWI?
@corkylorenz23 күн бұрын
That sounds like a perfect plan! I love that with the cold mist you can flip it multiple times to layer in several colors. This also looks amazing with ice dye but as you know with ice, it takes a long time to wait for it to melt and then add more.

Oooh, I like this. I'm getting better with my serger, maybe I could do this! I like the stepped core toward the front, as you had for a short moment, and I think I would put the smaller one between the topper and the backer. Just because of the way I tend to leak 😅 But also, having it like this makes washing so much more effective! The water can get through the back of the absorbency layer and cleanse it more thoroughly ❤
