FAQ Q: Why do you mark two lines? A: The inner line is where I want to sew. The outer line is where want to cut. The distance between the lines is the seam allowance and I prefer it to be precisely 1.5cm (5/8 inches). Q: Why do you draw the basting thread tight? A: Because the fabric is patterned, I'm cutting each side seperatly. Thus, I don't to seperate two layers of basting thread as usual. Q: Where did you buy the fabric? A: Here are a couple of shops I regularly buy my fabrics from: ebay.us/Z6jBqQ / ebay.us/vpXIlb / ebay.us/c90p81 / ebay.us/GWLgNd / ebay.us/rF94l9 Q: Where did you get the fabric weights? A: These are old balance weight I found at a flea market. Q: Why don't you sew in any darts? A: Depending on the style, you don't need darts. I skipped them because I don't need them and it's easier without darts. Q: Why do you sound so different in certain parts? A: I was sick when I recorded those additional voice overs. Q: My seams look so wrinkly when I turn them. How do I do it right? A: Cut down the seam allowance and clip in inside curves as shown around 7:43 Q: What's that fancy black pair of scissors you use for the lining fabric? A: These are zig zag scissors. They make that the edges fray less.

My history class is studying the Victorian Era this week, so this feels fitting. I am glad to know that Victorian fashion still survives. How many people here would enjoy getting together in a Vintage mansion with Vintage attire to drink tea, listen to Mendelssohn, and perhaps solve a mystery?

@@jtbasener8740 Closest to everyone? Well, here in Atlanta, Peachtree street back in the 1880's was lined with the Victorian mansions of the wealthiest families in the city. Rhodes Hall is one of the few that are left. It's a beautiful sort of neo gothic house museum but I'm not sure they host tea parties. However, Dr, Bombay's Under Water Tea Party is a charming little tea room in a row of Victorian era shops in a considerably more modest neighborhood that would love to host us in their library dining room. The Portal Victoriana, our local Victorian/Edwardian society goes there occasionally.

This is gorgeous, and so helpful! I'm sewing my father a vest out of a plaid cotton fleece material for Christmas, but have been struggling to find a pattern/style that would come out looking handsome. So many of the patterns out there end up looking quite plain, and particularly with the material I'm using, my fear is that the finished product would end up looking sort of elderly. But this is so handsome, and I think it will suit the material really well, and suit him, which is the most important. Thank you so much for this wonderful detailed video!

Will put my machine to good use in making some period fishing clothing to compliment my traditional angling. I'd be interested to see a video in your opening credits on the Red paisley smoking jacket. Look forward to seeing further episodes 👍

Do you consider making some video (maybe in a Q&A) how you work with pdf patterns? What paper/material to copy them when I have it printed on A0 paper. Best wishes!

Evening mate, I just got my center vent darker side grey pinstriped three piece suit, inspired off Luka changretta from peaky blinders, im worried if the center vent messed up my suit, im 5ft8, skinny, I've always worn double or ventless, I've never tries single vent, I wanted to try center vent but everywhere I read, people day it's the worst and isn't formal, should you disown and get another double vented one stitched or, keep it and not worry much.

He's not making sewing instruction videos as such. He is showing us how he makes his clothing. However, he does have a couple very specific videos like sewing a welt pocket and making buttonholes. Otherwise, your best bet is to scour KZbin for sewing instructions. There are lots and lots of out there. Also, check out your local fabric stores. They may other sewing classes.

amazing! So there is no canvas in the shawl collar area- Is that standard or is it just because your fabric is very thick? (gathering info because I love shawl collars)
@Vintagebursche
@Vintagebursche 10 ай бұрын
I don't know how other tailors do it, but as long as the outer fabric is not super flimsy, I skip the canvas in the lapel.

There are three different waitcoat patterns in the ebook - instructions as well as patterns. There is a list of what is included in the ebook. The paperback is basically just the printed version.

Since you have a plastic mat, you would save time by using a rotary cutter around your pattern instead of all the unnecessary time marking with chalk. If you're marking with chalk to be old fashioned, that's another story.
