Today I’m sharing another pair, and this time, using the very popular Allegro Bottoms from Love Notions. I have made the older version before and from the updated version, the skirts. Time to tackle the pants friends!
I am sharing how to transform the pocket bag into a front patch pocket, sewing footage and fit adjustments that were needed to get the fit I wanted. Another practical video applying all the content in this series.

Specifics:
*Linen/rayon blend, 55% Linen, 45% Rayon
*Size16
*Added 1” to the front rise
*Added 1.5” to the back rise
*Scooped in the back curve by 5/8"
*Scooped in the front curve by 1/4"
*Added 4” to the length of the legs in 2 different areas
*Transformed the pocket bag into a patch pocket with a facing.

As usual, a very informative video - I’ve learned so much from you about fitting for my shape. Thank you for these and for reinforcing the importance of not comparing our body shape to other people’s. I also love that you identify patterns that cater for cup sizes. You spent so much time and care on these! I so appreciate this series. I have my first muslin Allegros cut out to sew today, I just added to the length like you did above and below the knee as I’m tall. I’ll be using this pair to start finally make myself pants that fit my unique shape. I’m very excited and curious to see what changes I’ll make, even though I’ve measured myself and the pattern pieces (flat) so I have an idea of what I’ll need to do. Also thank you for being so sensitive to body image. I have gotten to the place where I’m more excepting of my tallness and fluffiness, but still experience some shadows or remnants of past hurts in regards to what I look like. I have lost over 140 pounds in the last 10 years and have kept it off. You are so excepting and nonjudgmental.

I love the updated version. The rise is much better for me. Of course these were updated after I had revised the older pattern...lol I haven't done a drawstring on any of mine. Hi Karina, I was just wondering, would you ever make a video about different type of pockets that you could add to pants even though this series is from a year ago? Ive finally started making pants and am really interested in seeing what type of pockets id be able to add to pants to add variety to my designs. Hi Karina, thank you for all the tips and techniques for these pants. I just finished a cropped pair in linen and love them! I did have an issue with the slash pocket. I lowered the waistline by 1.5” and couldn’t figure out how to change the pocket so I cut off 1.5” from pocket top as well. Now I find the pocket opening too short. Do you show how to redraw the pocket in another video or can you recommend a tutorial? Thank you!💕

Great fit series! I make similar length adjustments to you at 5'6", mainly because my lower body is relatively long compared to my upper. I always need a drawstring because the elastic is not stretchy enough to fit over my bottom and then fit my waist snuggly. I have this same issue with RTW, assuming I find something that fits my rise and circumference, the drawstring is a must for me, for the waist to fit. I always learn some terrific sewing and finishing techniques from watching your videos. Thank you.

I tried this series when it first came out and got frustrated, have made several tops since but am ready to try pants again! I own the Allegro pants so am going to try them. My question is about the slim leg. If (or to be positive, when!) I get the crotch and bottom part where I like it, and I want to make pants or capris with a wider leg, is it a simple matter of widening the pattern from around mid-thigh to the hem? It seems like it should be but one thing I have learned is that nothing is as simple as it seems! It doesn’t make sense to me to purchase another pattern if I don’t need to, just for the leg length. Sometimes its not just about changing the leg width..... with wide leg pants, the crotch fit can be looser and hang a little lower on the body and if the design is slim fitting, the crotch length needs to be more exact. Changing leg width dramatically can affect the fit of the upper section of the pants.
