“personality of the year”, that’s an awesome compliment. I agree. I’m a viewer from the beginning. Even when you’re not sewing my exact “look”, I watch religiously. I wish I hadn’t moved, I used to be in the DC area and I would have asked to “ meet up”.

Am I the only one that has never set a sleeve that way? So-o-o-o-o much easier. Thanks for that tip. Now I have one for you. If your machine fights you when going over a bulky seam, take a plastic pack of machine needles and place it under the back of the presser foot as you approach the pain point. It elevates the foot just enough and allows you to go over the seam easily without a problem. Love the sew-alongs. I really love all the ladies with channels that sew but only a few actually sew and teach. Thanks again, VIv!

Great video, Viv. I watched every minute of it. My mom was a factory sewer way back when, so she always did the shortcuts, like sewing the sleeves in before the side seems, etc. I know it doesn't work with all fabrics, but you took me back... She had an old Osan power machine that we all sewed on. I think she had us sewing on it from 4 or 5. It could get away from you until you learned how to use the brake.. lol.

I'm a quilter & just discovered your channel last weekend. I think I've watched most of your tutorials & love them. I used to sew a lot of clothes, gained some wt. & nothing looked good on me that I made. So I've been sewing for my 6 yr. old Granddaughter & love it. After watching your videos, I've decided it's time to start sewing for me again. Thanks for the encouragement...I'm waiting for my first order from Fabric Mart to arrive any day....I'm hooked :-) Thanks. Looks like quilting will be put aside for a bit while I finally make something for ME :-)

I love your energy and your tutorials are amazing. The pattern reviews are great, and your selection of fabrics are a perfect match. I am a on-again-off-again sewer who learned to sew from Home Ec classes, enhanced by an aunt and grandmother, and consider myself lucky for that special love and handywork gifts. I tell all my friends about your videos, whether they sew or not. The history lesson on the patterns was awesome and I sensed a change was coming with the pattern companies. Yesterday, MCCALLS was in the news for closing their plant. Your tip to look for the KwikSew patterns at a reasonable price was a good one; bought several at Joanns for under $2. So, I will continue to be a big fan while expanding my fabric and pattern collection. Happy Sewing! Stephanie,Oakland, CA

Love your idea to fussy cut that pocket so there's a flower! So cute! Thank you for taking the time for your video during your holiday! Yesterday I cut out Simplicity #8924 for my 1st pattern in many yrs. I used a white cotton with an eyelet border from HL, so no hemming, yayy!! I must say it felt very nostalgic to be cutting out a pattern for myself. I hope to be sewing it tomorrow since I wont be babysitting my 4 yr old grandson this week as I usually do. You know, the last time I sewed with any type of knit i was in high school! Oh my gosh, is that possible!? I sewed ok with double knit, but i liked the single knit, BUT my machine didn't. I say all that to say, I'm still scared of sewing with light weight knits:/ I guess I need to put my brave on & get over it! Lol Your dress turned out so cute! Love the color too. But seriously you'd look good in anything. Thanks for all your encouraging words & sharing pieces of your life. I too have a little bird! It was given to me by my mother when I was little, it has a tiny pincushion in it's back:) Love your videos & keep us sewing!!!

Dearest Viv, Cute dress! And I love watching sewing! FINALLY finished helping out with our new baby grand, Ruby Grace, and her brothers and sister. Of course it would have been better had I not gotten in trouble with ‘Mommy’ for making them giggle during stories at bedtime! Grandpa and Grandma just couldn’t seem to stay on the right side of the law. “Lighten up, younger generation!” I’d like to change the saying to... “If Grandma ain’t happy, ain’t nobody happy!” - that’s better! I can’t imagine filming a sew-a-long! You do a great job!👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼 (Now I never know if you can see those emojis or not, hence..”clapping”.☺️ Enjoy your cute dress! Just in time for the summer (that sure took its time coming)! Great camera work too! Thanks, Beautiful! See you soon!

You keep making those kids giggle, Grandma. That’s one of the reasons they love you!! We could all do well to lighten up. I think I make “the purists” angry because I am not perfectionistic about my sewing. I want to be careful but not anal. Does that make sense? (Gotta be careful not to offend!) At any rate, thanks for writing, I definitely CAN see the emojis, yay!😄👏👏
