Awesome video dude. I picked one of these up to learn automotive upholstery, I can't believe I found a video for a 44-9. you saved me from ruining my machine. You're a badass.

Great! no one shows enough of how to work with, on and using feet on these old machines- thats what makes me afraid to buy old, is knowing more than the manuals- thanks!! REally helps!

You are awesome, you have help me a lot with your videos, the only thing lacking like with the Necchies it was that you did not thread the bobin, and the upper thread like in this video, regardless you are my heroe, you explain very well, plus you show very close and slow enough with the camera, a million thanks!

Thanks Lucha! Glad you found it helpful. Ya, I stopped including the threading/bobbin winding in the videos since I thought it was becoming a little redundant. All machines basically thread exactly the same way with the thread passing through a tension disc, then a check spring, then the take up lever. The thread guides just connect the dots between those components and keep the thread off the machine body. I'm going to do a "universal threading / bobbin case explanation video" that hopefully will help people become confident enough to thread any machine, without looking at a manual, and intuitively understand what's happening. Thanks again.

you are right, but for new people, with just one kind of machine it is important. Like necchies are very different than Singer, for begginers. For experienced people just with the common sense it is enough. Againg thank you really.

This is a great video. Made 9 yrs ago, and still there's not a great pile of material out there on the 'Kick Foot' design machines : 31kSV16, 31k19, 31k47, 331k5, 331k6, 331k105, 44-9, ...

Thanks! The lack of information is exactly why I share these videos. Hopefully more users will share in the future.

Hi,this seems very similar to my 132k6 walking foot,Very handy tip to know thank you, As you seem to know your stuff I wonder if you may help me out please with my 45k1 issue.The 45k1 has 2 half circular plates that have to be removed be for removing the shuttle.If I remove the first one by removing the screw at the bottom`I then come to the second retainer plate`this one has tiny holes either side that helps line it up on to the pins that exceed out,on this plate (one side is tapered/chamfered )on the inner circular part and when I removed it.I can not remember whether it goes back on facing the shuttle or facing out wards away from the shuttle.if you know which way it is meant to go on`would you be so kind to explain why it needs to go on a certain way .

So to be sure I saw correctly, if I have it set up as a roller foot, I would need different feed dogs to straight stitch with it?

Hi, my dad bought me this machine, for upholstry. I had 2 jobs I've dine, just fine, my brother did his motorcycle seat, and now we can't get it to sew, when it does, it skips, or completely unthreads. Funny, because the lady he bought it from, actually used it for making sails! I'm very bummed I cannot get it sewing now. Any advice? I sew in a mattress facorty, and i typically have a preety good understanding on the basics of a machine, but i am baffled.

I am interested in making sails for small wooden boats, can you recommend a used machine that would be good.
@thesergeant35248 жыл бұрын
+boat buddy If you have the space for a full size industrial I'd recommend a Singer 111W155 as a great "entry level" machine. Hundreds of thousands of these machines were made and are still going strong today. Keep an eye out craigslist. You should be able to find one. If you don't have room for a full size system then a Sailrite LS-1 or LSZ-1 would also work but will be considerably more expensive and in my opinion not as nice as a vintage 111W155

Wow! Your Video is extremely helpful! And we all got a chance to see an industrial Roller Foot working correctly! I bet my Late Granny would have lived 5 years longer, with that foot when she was sewing intricate patchwork blankets! It does look, however, that your Singer 44 has no Reverse! Do you simply pull back on your leather/fabric or do a 180 degree turnaround to "lock" down your stitch?

can i add that assembly part for the walking foot to my domostic vintage singer 201 ?
@thesergeant3524 Жыл бұрын
Unfortunately no. There are walking foot attachments for 'low shank domestic' machines but they're more for quilting than heavy work.

will the walking foot assembly for the 44-9 fit the 31-15
@thesergeant35249 жыл бұрын
+Greg Richardson It will not. There are additional linkage bars and internal parts on the 44-9 that are not present on a 31-15
@thebootmaker29 жыл бұрын
Can I find them
@thesergeant35249 жыл бұрын
+Greg Richardson No, you would be better off finding something like a Singer 111W155 if you need the walking foot feature. The 31-15 is impossible to convert.
