The small "coin" pocket in jeans I believe was originally for a pocket watch and I do use it for this purpose. Shame they are not fitted to all trousers. Your video has encouraged me to experiment on some old gardening trousers.

Thank you for your delightful and informative videos. I have been struggling with zippers (and have made frequent use of my seam ripper...) with precisely this kind of installation. I appreciate your patience and the excellent video work done. Looking forward to making a new pair of jeans using your methods!

Does the pocket pattern sell separately?
@angelakanetv Жыл бұрын
This is the pocket taken from the Selvedge Jeans Pattern M983 - angelakane.com/sewing-jeans/ - Currently £5 but going back to £12 on the 1st October. Just wondering if I should make it a Free Template. Then you could use it with my Women's Jeans too - angelakane.com/sewing_patterns/patterns/jeans-sewing-pattern-948.php.

Can you do without the pocket facing or must you have it?
@angelakanetv7 жыл бұрын
Yes you can do without the pocket facing but it means that if the top edge of the pocket rolls a bit or gapes, you will see the pocket fabric rather than denim. It also gives a firmer structure to the pocket edge and will wear longer.
@kmurphy31357 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the response. Oh, thanks for the button stitch. I practice it several times and got it right, but when I went to the actual jeans not so good. Yikes. I need more practice on controlling the entire pants. I'm new and never sewed a day in my life but it was fun. Thanks
@angelakanetv7 жыл бұрын
Buttonholes are never easy. I don't like them either. I'll be doing a video on handworked buttonholes soon. I think it gives you more control.

I just don't understand why we must cut something that could have been trimmed earlier when pattern was cut & overlocked? After a breakdown I just canno't re learn this stuff, it's so frustrating grrr!!! My simplicity pattern is way different to yours maybe Iv missed a peice? I do think marking that pant leg was a great way of showing people
@angelakanetv8 жыл бұрын
Hi Joanne, I remember answering this but I don't know where it's gone! Often you need different seam allowances on parts of a garment but domestic sewers are used to the standard ⅝" seam allowance on patterns rather than showing all sorts of different widths. I find it's best to stick to the standard allowance and trim where needed. Many of my earlier patterns were net patterns with no seam allowance and it was up to the seamstress to add seam allowance during cutting out and use any width they required. Thank you very much for your feedback.

@anthonyloughan97192 жыл бұрын
Why does the pattern have you cut pieces one size then the process have cut those same pieces down again? Why not fix your pattern and then Also include the “Top stitching the inseam” like you say you will ‘later on” but don’t actually explain it.
