SingerSewingCompany - I just bought a Singer Heavy Duty 4452. My question / request is this: Would you please make some videos (or written documentation) on the proper maintenance for the Heavy Duty series of machines? Oiling points and anything else we should be doing? The manual doesn't cover any kind of maintenance. It doesn't even cover how to change the bulb in case of a bulb burnout. Having information on how to properly do these tasks on this series (and how often)would be appreciated by many people I'm sure. Thank you in advance for passing this request to the proper department. Hopefully all of the Singer Heavy Duty owners will have wonderful videos or documentation soon to keep their beloved machines running smoothly! :)

Thanks, I thought I'd have to buy a new machine. Your test of pulling the thread through the needle with the presser foot up and down was excellent; right up there with re-threading the machine. Thank you! I believe this correct my jam issue; fabric was jamming into the sew plate. I couldn't remove the screws on the sewing plate. But, found the correct tool in the sewing tool kit provided. Followed the directions here on how to remove the dust - that collects in bobbin chamber 0:17 . Seems to be working well now; fingers cross. Just a note to people who have this machine. The correct tool is a small flat metal tool that looks like it has two ends. The screw driver is NOT the correct tool. Also, it seems like this machine collects dust faster than other machines I've owned. After 3 project uses you need to clean the bobbin chamber. Hope that helps. I use the Singer Heavy Duty 4411 Sewing Machine. Happy Sewing!

I have recently bought a Singer Talent 3323 sewing machine and read the instruction manual and it said nothing at all about oiling; I then decided not to oil it becouse I’ve read that if the manual doesn’t mention it then the machine doesn’t need it. But the machine was not running smoothly, it was noisy in a bad way (metal against metal type of sound). I noticed the noise was coming from the bobbin area and oiled that part. After that it was heaven to sew with it, no more noise and everything runs smoothly. As much as I like how my machine sews now, I am dissapointed that a new machine can come in that condition and also about the fact that I had to figure out what was wrong myself, with no help in the instruction manual about the maintenance part.

thanks for the tutorial. I have a problem with the upper tension. What is happening? The bottom seam is always loose. I have to sew with tension for jeans on a thin cotton fabric. My machine is the easy one for the 4432 or heavy duty.

I have a Singer model 2277 Tradition machine and have had it over 90 days and still can't get the machine to stitch the sample material used on it. I am using the needle which came with the machine and each time I tried sewing the material went through, but it was not stitched like it should have been. After several attempts to correct this problem myself I am at a loss and ready to take it to a specialist to show me what I am doing wrong.

Yeah, my Singer 1120 is not worth the $200 to get it serviced. They did help me oil it properly. But it's chirping horridly. Aside from the once in a while inconsistent stitches (even after new needle, full bobbin, quality thread, correct settings) it's fine. But the chirping is INSANE.

I have a Smart Singer 1507 which I purchased years ago. I have only taken it out this morning for the first time. I have plugged it in and the light is working. I am trying to thread the bobbin but the side handwheel is not turning and I cannot get the needle to raise...any help would be appreciated. Today when I went to wind the bobbin and the trouble Shute lettering came on. C and then a backwards C. When I push it off it freed up the machine. Otherwise it is very stiff excluding the side wheel. Please help I am in the middle of a project. Thank you.

I own a Singer One purchased in 2015. I was recently having trouble with top tension. I would try to pull the thread out and it was very difficult to pull through. I put in another spool and problem solved!! I concluded it was due to using a thinner, smaller spool of thread that was 100% polyester. Be sure to use cotton or cotton blend and the larger size spool with the Singer One!!!

Hello Karla, We regret to hear you are having issues with your Singer ONE sewing machine. You can use polyester thread and the small spools of thread on your Singer ONE sewing machine. First make sure that if there is a notch in the end of the spool of thread, that this side is inserted first when slipping the spool onto the spool pin so the thread is not catching on that slit. Also be sure to use the small spool cap so the thread doesn’t slip between the spool of thread and the cap. The last tip is that some thread it wound to pull from a specific direction so it a spool of thread is not pulling off easily try turning the spool around. We hope these suggestions will be of assistance to you.

@@SingerSewingCompany the only thing you mentioned I did not try was using the smaller spool cap. However when I watched the thread come off the spool or when I checked it it was never wound around anything it shouldn't have been. When I pulled on it, the super tight tension was coming from inside the machine. I took the cover off and tried to see what the issue was and it seemed to get stuck in the tension apparatus. I will try again when I get the chance as my sewing table has become my work desk right now. I will let you know what happens.

So I tried it again using your suggestions. Using the small spool cap I noticed the thread is getting hung up on the rough edges of the spool. After I sew for a few minutes, not only might the thread be hung up on the spool but the tension is still much tighter than when I first started. I have to use both hands to try to pull it out, even from the top. If I rethread it the tension is nice and loose, but once I sew for a minute it's back to being tight. I'm wondering if the fact it catches on the rough edges of the spool is making it adjust the tension incorrectly? I have the tension set on auto, but even if I put the tension at zero the same thing happens. I have a smaller spool of 100% cotton Im going to try. I'm wondering if there is just something about that spool that my machine doesn't like...

Hi, I have a Singer Electronic Control Model #5932, and am having trouble threading it properly. I've followed the instructions but when it comes down to turning the knob to lower the needle to pick up the bobbing thread it won't pick it up, so I put up the thread myself and tried to sew on a practice cloth to see if it worked but unfortunately it didn't. Now I'm not sure what exactly I'm doing wrong or if it's just the machine. Thanks for your help.

I have troubleshooted my machine. The needle hits the bobbin unless I have it set at 5.5 on the width, that is slightly to the right of the usual setting of 5.0 It is a FashionMate 5500 bought about 2 years ago. I cleaned it and have the correct needle. The needle position is the problem. How can I fix this?

I'm having issues making a buttonhole with my Singer Patchwork. I got it to work one time but the stitching was too close together so I couldn't separate it to be able to cut it so I could get a button through it.
