This looks like a variation of the basic peasant style garment. I like them because they are pretty fool proof and can fit most any body type and can be a blouse, dress, or nightgown depending on your fabric and how it is finished off. I am glad you changed the placket. I was worried about how heavy it was for your fabric. I have had bad luck trying to use iron on interfacing. Instead, I use something lightweight like muslin. It gives body but moves with the main fabric in a softer way as well as washing and drying well. I can sew it on just inside the seam allowance and trim it, or layer it later. Sometimes I might cut it smaller (I like your wax paper idea!) and temp glue it down then stitch it in with the seams. Thank you for sharing your sewing experiences.

I made my first placket yesterday. Oh my goodness, horrible. It is fraying all around the bottom edges of the placket on the top itself and I could not get the lower edge straight. I watched so many videos first too, but not this one. I don't see how you cut to the circles to make the opening without that edge falling apart after you turn the placket edges in.

Oh my gosh....I just had a revelation......which for me lately is nearly impossible. Age......illness....that sort of stuff. Anyway....I'm watching you fiddling with the fabric and realized why I have this thing about fabric.....and if I hadnt gotten worse physically, I would have boxes of fabric awaiting their next project. ANYWAY........growing up with a mom that made all our clothes, she was always at the fabric store......and then spent so much time there eventually ended up working there as we girls got older. (3 sisters....alot of home made clothes). I wonder if thats why your videos are so soothing and healing for me? Who knows......but interesting revelation.......makes the experience that much more enjoyable. The only thing better would be me walking into the room right now and asking you if you would have time for coffee this morning. Im in northern KY...so not too far away. You are lucky .....I don't drive. My latest fabric fiddling is coming up with curtains for my new apt. Any videos on that? Im adding your videos to my list of meditation and relaxation videos by the way. I use everything from rotating fans, landing plans, trains in Switzerland going through the snow, to thunderstorms in the woods. So you should feel honored my dear!!! lol

Wow Ceecee, thank you. I am so glad that my videos can inspire such happy and hope-filled feelings :) There is something peaceful about childhood memories of watching someone sew. I remember watching my grandmother in her room putting the finishing touches on dresses she would make for my sister and me, on the same machine I use today. Sewing should be a peaceful hobby, I think it gets difficult only under time pressures and other peoples opinions. But doing it just for the enjoyment of the process is great. Thanks you!!

This pattern could go in several directions. I love your nightgown version and would love to see a video of working with the lace. By using a different type of fabric, I think this could work as a swimsuit coverup. You could choose the fabric and length based on if it was just to be worn hanging around the water, or if you planned some before or after swimming events where more “covering up” is required! I also wanted to say that I like to see you wearing something you made in a previous video. You model the outfit quite well, but by you actually wearing it, we can see how freely it allows you to move, and if, depending on our own daily activities, we would need to use a different type of fabric or alter the size to make it work for us.

I love your "ugly house dress" lol. I have this pattern waiting to make up, so I was super excited when I saw the video. I actually love the nightie you made and I am going to make one from a pink floral and a plain pink in the same style as you did the purple. I am going to do all your changes to the pattern interfacing too, and I am even going to bring out and practice my rolled hem foot too. Thankyou for another great video. Thanks for the tricks...I just finished two button up shirts both with collar stand one with collar one without. That ruler with the wax paper to illuminate the interfacing bulk would have come in handy for sure. Also the pressing of the seam allowance OVER the second tab for the placket will be handy to try for that ANNOYING top stitching the collar down on the collar band to the shirt body. That's always been my problem of catching both sides together getting blind sided by that underside that always manages to slip out. I'll def be trying that next time to get that ⅛ advantage on the underside. Thanks again Have you ever tried gathering with the serger???? THAT'S a game changer.

With the second pointed placket, you showed that you sewed along the edge encasing the fabric edge of your top till you got to the clipped bits at the bottom, enclosing them. Did you then continue sewing that long strip in a straight li e after the bottom edge, back up along the other cut edge of your top? I couldn't figure out what happened next.

Hello! There is not a brand name for my pens . I just use the generic " heat erasable fabric marking pens". If you do a search on that on eBay or Amazon or madamsew or any place like that you'll find them. They usually come with a lot of refills.
