It’s so swishy! I made a panelled circle skirt the other day but I have yet to properly finish the hem lol

Hemming and watching TV is a favorite passtime at this point for me. HA. I just have a lot of hemming.

I needed this! I recently made a dress from a vintage pattern. Didn't particularly like the fit but I love the fabric, so it's now being deconstructed into a 2 pieces, just finished ripping out the French seam skirt to be taken in because for some odd reasons....there's a 2" ease. Still deciding if I want to make the bodice into a tie shirt or button closure 🤨

What did you decide to do in the end?
@yc70jade Жыл бұрын
I am procrastinating! I did take apart the skirt, modified the side panels & added a waist band, which was an easy fix...just fiddly. I am leaning towards adding loop button closure for the top

Yeah, having cut many circle skirts over the years, I can absolutely confirm that you can cut the exact same waist and be off by as much as five inches. I don't know if it's an act of God or a weird perk of certain fabrics, but I, too, tuck and roll with it.

This was utterly wild. I am so flipping confused. I have been a victim of math.

From the mouth of a mere male. measure twice, cut once.
@NoraMurrell Жыл бұрын
This assumes you know what you want this measurement to be considering bias, ease, waistband, zipper, and seam allowance. And that you in fact do exactly as you plan.

@@NoraMurrell Put it down to a failed toile, then. You're clearly on the path towards Personal Blocks (Basic Blocks tend towards Market Sizing, but can cross-over into couture), and from there, it's pattern-alteration to suit. Long live Assembil!

@@JelMain This is exactly it. All of it. Expecting every project from today and on to somehow always be the right cut with the right fabric with zero mistakes or confusion isn't real at all. AND, with understanding that a fail that can absolutely be fixed AND with future sewing to come, that's when it gets seriously exciting. The potential is HUGE. I could end up sewing anything!
