Well said. Well thought. Well edited. Well sewn. Well done. Thank you. I'm currently at the around 60% done stage of handsewing a 1950's dolman sleeve blouse (with underarm gussets) in a cobalt blue wool crepe. It's my way of celebrating finding the fabric on my first visit to an annual fabric destash I went to in the spring. Everything is or is going to be by hand - buttonholes: pad stitching the front facing, collar, and cuffs; prick stitching the edges: my first ever excuse to make my own bias tape; and I'm using the "Good" vintage 'diamond' buttons. Turns out I enjoy basting... I am, thanks to YTU, teaching myself tailoring... and I've been loving it. _GOOGLE_ - "The Ideal Embroidery Hoop and Easel" Patentened by M.A. Maxwell in July 1881. I fell down the rabbit hole so fast and far that I came back with the original successful patent application, signed by the Boston lawyer for one Mary A. Maxwell. It's a Victorian embroidery hoop on a gimble that attaches to the best clamp I've ever met. The clamps sometimes show up on the ebay... I found mine on FB Marketplace being sold as quilting hoop 'decoration' for a sewing room... thank you Almighty Algorithms (both the Old and the AI). Did I mention that it can support the 16" worth of fabric I'm doing my first huge piece on. Only someone who embroiders could design something this brilliant... I'm using a combination of mine and my late Mum's thread. Completely making up the design of a a flower and leaves. It's about the size of my hand so far... Haven't had this much fun in a while. All the very best to you and yours this Holiday Season. Happy Hannukah! - Cathy (&, accidently, Steve), Ottawa/Bytown/Pimisi

This is exactly how asymétrique is handled in (haute) couture. You add to smooth for example uneven shoulders - add a very thin shoulder pad to the higher side and then a thicker on the lower side. It would also be the appropriate solution for ppl who lost one arm since the shoulder is often lower. Basically add don't subtract. If you would put an additional dart on the side of the belly without the stoma your eyes and every one elses would automatically be drawn to this area. Our brains try to smooth out asymmetrical facial / body / ... features so helping the brain in doing so is golden. Batting applications in layers like you would use to make your own shoulder pads or to create an understructure for a strapless evening gown are the things to research to make it work. I truly hope, even if this video is older, it might still be read by someone who needs it and let me add you are lovely no matter your looks everyone ❤

The best thing for me during my teenage problematic skin time was going to a dermatologist and have him look at my acne outbreak. He specifically made a prescription for my skin, it was two creams and it worked so well. The pharmacy had to make it for me so I needed to wait 3 days I think but man it was wonderful

I must have missed this video when it was first released 😮 your fabric flowers are amazing 😍 I really love it and you can see fabric flowers on most garments and accessories throughout the fashion decades so all the effort is worth it I think. I hope you are back with another project soon

Currently rewatching your videos and I do appreciate this longer video. Sometimes I forget how much is edited on sewing videos and I feel like the slowest sahm / seamstress. So this was my friendly reminder to take my time and stop pressuring myself for quick projects. It takes all the joy from me

You are doing what I have been planning in my head!! I have done silk screening on fabric in the past. I have knitted a tallit and cross stitched the atarah. I now have the cut velvet blanks and I am planning on dying them. Have you ever tried procrion fabric dye as opposed to the Acid? That is what I had planned to do. I would love your opinion. Thank you!! I know this is a year old but I hope your are still checking!! Sharon

Something you could do for hand bound eyelets, similar to how i do buttonholes: do a regular plain ol metal grommet set into the garment, then use a buttonhole silk twist to go over and simply cover the metal. For buttonholes, i machine a basic pattern, enough to give me a good raised layer to work with and the buttonhole twist lays so nicely. And no one has to know any different 👀

Your skirt turned out beautifully. I have the Claire Schaffer book but have never used it hahaha! I've dragged it off the shelf after watching this video though ..... the silk/satin shirt you're wearing is beautiful too. Did you make that? If you did, do you mind sharing the pattern? I'm looking for the perfect shirt pattern.

Hi Nora, how are your migraines going? Is the treatment holding up or have they returned?

I have not had a migraine or pain flair since March 26. I was able to get on a physical movement thing that seems to also be working with the Botox (absolutely worth it) and things are going unexpectedly well. Thank you for asking.

for the sheerish blue polyester, you need a beige slip that approximates your skin tone. I love rayon.
@NoraMurrell5 ай бұрын
I have a later era beige slip I’ve been wearing, but I’d like to eventually sew one that is era appropriate. It would be worth it, this has become one of my favorite dresses, it has the right 1920s feel.

Thank you! 😊. I am very satisfied with the result, this was a great pattern to show off this fabric. I also was impressed with my patience. I noticed that I was not getting impatient even when every single last thing about this took so much more time than usual. I think I just knew that this was going to take a whole lot longer than usual.

I just love that green and salmon house dress! OMG that silk--that velvet! Where do you find these fabulous fabrics? What brassiere/bandeau/corset will you wear under the 1920s outfit?
@NoraMurrell5 ай бұрын
Thank You!. Colorado Fabrics had an 80% off sale when they closed a few years ago. I’m still sewing through the stash (Husband heard about the sale and told me to “Do Damage.”). I have evolved through underwear for the 1920s. In the end I decided that shape and comfort were the priorities. EITHER I’m wearing tap panties or I’m actually wearing the briefs and bralettes from TomBoyX. There is nothing about this that is period correct, BUT the shape and comfort is perfect.
