Sewing Mitred Corners. A mitred corner, in simplest terms, looks to join two edges (be it corners of patch pockets or vents in skirts), together in a diagonal direction to form a sharp and distinguished corner.
The corner is sewn into place and bulk removed.
Thankfully, sewing a mitred corner is an easy thing to achieve and can be adapted to fit many sewing projects.

Beautiful work, great job explaining, as you didn't waste time. Too many people think they have to rival Steven Spielberg, so their videos are too long. Didn't know how those corners were done, & I've sewn for many years. Love it!

THANK YOU!!! For this clear easy to follow video ......... I have a beautiful old hand crochet table cloth edging . It needs a new linen centre. I had no idea how to do the amazingly neat corners.! But now I do and after I have a little (or a lot of !!) practice on a scrap of material I hope I will be able to do good enough job to justify this wonderful piece of handy work . Fingers crossed :)

Hi, I love the video- it's really clear. How would you do a meat corner like this if you wanted the hem turned twice to give a neater finish? I don't know if I've explained it well enough but thanks in advance for your help x
@MadMonique
@MadMonique 5 жыл бұрын
if you have a hem that is turned once, just iron it down before following Colleen's instructions. Then, after you have done the mitered corners, press and pin the turned under edges and top stitch. Result: hemmed edges and mitered corner without having to baste stitch (although you could if you were not used to top-stitching). You only need to fold the fabric once, not twice to get an enclosed hem. Good Luck
@colleenglea
@colleenglea 11 жыл бұрын
You'll have to use a template and then hold and press the pocket shape. Once thats done, edge stitch all the way around.
