Sewing Needles: How Are They Made?

Even such a simple product, designers and engineers do not stop improving its performance, to always meet the needs of seamstresses around the world.
It all starts with very fine steel wires that are fed into the machine.
The wires pass through guides and thin tubes to remove kinks and straighten. The equipment itself gives the cylindrical shape of the needle and cuts the determined length.
A series of stamping machines forge the needle point individually. In the first step, the needle is pressed.
In the next step, the milling machine mills the needle grooves. It is a very delicate part and needs a lot of precision.
Before the treatment of the material, the needles undergo grinding and sharpening of the tip.
Needles must be properly heat treated in high temperature ovens. Then they are frozen. This thermal shock allows them to obtain the necessary elasticity.
The first finish is by a vibrating grinding chamber, which smoothes the surface of the needle. Any twisting or bending is resolved in this equipment.
They still undergo a treatment before chrome plating.
So that there is no type of contamination, all parts go through 6 washes in each batch.
The parts are plated in chrome in an automated way. Afterwards, they undergo a fine polishing. And the result is perfect needles for your sewing.
Quality control is constant in manufacturing. Each batch is strictly checked. The needle undergoes visual inspection. It is measured and physically tested.
A final check before packaging is still carried out through lasers and high-precision cameras, which individually inspect each sewing needle. Rejected parts are rejected with an air jet.
Finally, the sewing needles are packaged.
