Excellent pattern review! I am glad someone shared the bit about Amish quilters including an imperfection in their work, because I'm coming late to the video with the same comment and you needed it.❤Kelly

Glad it was helpful! Thank you yes that was so lovely to hear about Amish quilters, I think that is such a nice idea and definitely very helpful for reframing my view on the imperfection on my dress 🥰

I heard somewhere that when the Amish (or maybe it was Mennonite) women sew their dresses or knit something, even if it is going perfectly, they leave a small mistake somewhere on the item because God is the only one who is perfect and not humans. I always liked the concept, and it made it much easier to accept small mistakes or mishaps in my me mades.

I have also heard that and love the concept.

Love it! This pattern reminds me of the Guinea Sax dresses we wore in the 1970’s when I was a teen. Also the Laura Ashley dresses in the 1980’s-90’s. Kind of American west in a good way. This pattern looks fresh and feminine. Great job!

The dress is so beautifully made Cath. Very late with watching the video but it is worth it. Noone would ever notice the fraycheck mark it should fade with washing. You have chosen such lovely fabric and i think the one with longer sleeves and no frill for autumn would make a cosy dress. Great to watch and love the summer dress too. Patricia x

Thank you so much Patricia 😊 Thank you, I do hope the fraycheck mark will fade. Yes I agree a no frill version with longer sleeves would be so nice for autumn x

Love this pattern so much! Just had to get it! Thanks for such a great review! Bit scared that it’s marked as advanced!!! Your version is just beautiful

Fab I can’t wait to see your version! 😍 I definitely found the idea of the advanced skill level scary too! But the instructions are brilliant and I know you’ll ace it ☺️

Great review Cath. Your new dress looks lovely on you. I appreciated hearing about the instructions. I think I have a Vera top pattern by Forget-Me-Not patterns that I haven't sewn up yet but have heard many positive comments about. Also appreciated your chat about the type of fabric. I love cotton gauze and often see it on woven pattern fabric recommendations. One top I made with it is sooo comfy but it definitely grew since the sew and I don't think I would want a shirtdress out of it. Still..have a couple pieces left I need to figure out a pattern for. One I'm going to use for a nightgown as that won't matter if it loosens. xx Karen

On the front collar where you dropped the Fray Check, I might try matching a marker to your fabric and just touching it up slightly. Speaking from experience, next time, try rubbing alcohol to remove the excess Fray Check and blotting instead of rubbing. I also found that markers will cover where the paint might be coming off on an invisible zipper pull tab. Lovely dress and really like the pattern. Thanks for reviewing.

Thank you very much for the tip, I will see if I can find a marker that has a good match! 😊

It's such a blow when something goes wrong at the end of a project, I once cut off the point of a collar while trying to trim a thread 🤦♀️ The dress looks lovely on you and seems like a good pattern for people who really enjoy the sewing process.
