I use my old nursery furniture for storage. My MIL suggested this and it was a great idea! I have a sitting room off our master bedroom. I have a desk, an old kitchen table and some shelves. It's a nice space? I even have a recliner I call the husband chair. He comes and sits in it and reads while I sew.

I think I'm going to be bingeing sewing room videos soon. I need to make some changes to mine. I love how ergonomic yours is - your work triangle, etc. I don't think people realise how smart that is. Having everything close at hand makes it so much easier. And I love the shelf dividers! I remember when you did those the first time but I'd forgotten. I could use those in my regular closets!

Enjoyed your video. I’m blessed to have a sewing room as I’m an empty nester. I use a long folding table for cutting out. Honestly it is up most of the time, but it is light weight and easy to fold up. I like that I can shift it around and move around the table to get at easier cutting angles. Because it’s long I don’t have fabric hanging off the end and I can lay out large pattern pieces. I am still looking for my perfect pattern containers. I have a lot of patterns and I love looking through them.

I prefer to arrange my iron, machines, and cutting station so that I have to get up to use them, that way instead of scotting around my chair, I’m moving my body around the room. Doesn’t work for everyone, for sure.

Hi Delilah, I really enjoyed your video. I have been struggling for probably eight months trying to figure out how to organize my sewing room. I have a six needle machine that is on its own stand, a table mounted heat press, a PE800 and an SE 625. I use each machine on a regular basis. I have these in a 16' x 16' spare bedroom. I just need some organization ideas. I live in south Louisiana in an "Acadian" style home. Right now my machines are on mix match tables except for the muti-needle machine which has its own table. I just want ideas on organization. I was thinking about removing the tables and putting in continuous counter tops with shelving on the walls. I quilt, make baby items, heat press and other crafts. What are your thoughts on the continuous counter tops for the machines and shelves on the walls for storage.
@SimplyDelilah
@SimplyDelilah Жыл бұрын
I'm glad i'm not the only one with multiple hobbies. I think the continuous table sounds great! one thing to consider is not to put it against the wall. I like how I have access to my table from both sides.

Hello Delilah. It was nice to watch your sewing room. I am trying to make arrangements to use 1/2 of my spare bedrooms that has a twin bed in it. To have as my sewing room. Very tight space for sure. You have like 3 different machines. If you don’t mind me commenting on your machine set up. Maybe you want to move the big table to the corner space then you can have the entire table for the cutting. Then use the small table from your serger and move to the front where you have the big table. Use the serger table as a base to add a table top that could manage all your machines Then it may be easy to use to avoid you switching between different tables to use your machines. You may only need to get up to cut or to iron.

Enjoyed those sewing room rules. My husband has come to me with pants needed hemming and my son has come to me looking for food and yes, may no one talk to me when I'm holding a seam ripper. I recently sewed the wrong colored rectangle into 12 blocks before I realized it and had to take them all apart and redo since my pieces were pre-cut.

Loved this video. I especially loved your approach which emphasizes function. I love that the peg board matches your curtains! I also like when you were showing your thread, but didn’t care that you don’t have dozens of colors. Who will ever use that much basic thread! No one, lol. Just buy what you need, or more specifically, buy what you’re ready to use.

The wood handled ruler is awesome! I’m stealing the work triangle setup idea, but I also like that your Babylock and Husqvarna/Viking are back to back. Sometimes it’s easier to change machines rather than thread colors if you have it available. As for the sign, when I started sewing, I cut and sewed at the kitchen table. Spilling salsa on my cutting mat reinforced the idea of creating a dedicated sewing zone. 😁
