I’m chuckling about your Kraft Knife. Never send a man out to do something a woman wants, is my motto. I was in need of a broom so I sent husband out to get me one. Just a small broom for me to sweep the ktichen floor. What he brought home was a push broom!

You've made a great job of your sewing room! Well done!! Many moons ago, painted my IKEA bedside tables and put handles on and they look so different, and don't break my nails! I'm in the process of painting 6 spice racks. 3 for inside the shower and 3 to go on the side of my free standing sink unit as my son and fiance have come to live with me to help them save. The racks will fit one above the other in both places to hold shower gels, shampoos etc, one each, as its amazing what they can hold. Its a small bathroom so anything space saving helps... Ironically, my colour scheme is similar to yours, as like you I needed it light and bright. Your transformation to the guest room is great, also, you've given me an idea of where to put my ironing board too, so thank you for that!!

I'm ever so chuffed that your video popped up as I'm moving house in a couple of weeks and I seriously need to get my craft room organised. My problem is that I used to own a craft shop and although I have managed to reduce my craft items to sewing, crochet and cross stitch I still have a ton of stuff. I have lots of books and I've been using open shelving but now think it may be best to use drawers instead. So I found your video very helpful.

Just loved watching your sewing room tour. I too have mostly Ikea things - desk with two drawers, and the Kallax 25 compartment book case, and their swivel black and white chair, which is so comfortable. I did see on the internet the most awesome Murphy-style craft desk and organizer, just in case you have to move into the smaller room and let your two year old have this room. It was totally amazing! Desk folded down and four bookshelves folded out. Cabinets and nooks and crannies everywhere! Even I had envy for it, even though I have what I need now. My husband loved it too - but it was quite expensive, but I think worth it. Sorry so long.
@Threadquarters7 жыл бұрын
Oh wow, that Murphy-style craft desk sounds amazing!! It would certainly be the answer for whenever I need to swap rooms...I wonder if my husband could make something similar (he would certainly love the challenge lol). Glad you loved the tour xxx

Very nice dual purpose room! My husband just painted our downstairs family room and it looks so pretty that I decided to move my sewing studio down into it. I will have twice the space. Since the kids are gone, no one really uses it anyway. I am very excited. I like your idea of having a U shape, so you can swivel your chair, to iron your seams. I am going to set mine up that way as well. Thanks for showing us your pretty room. Oh, and mine is aqua, as well. I am going to hang up one of my quilts, and put some red accents in the room. Where do you cut out your fabric - do you use the table?
@Threadquarters7 жыл бұрын
Yes, when the folding table is fully up I use that. Its a bit low so if I were to cut a lot out at once I would end up with a bad back. I've seen some people have put this particular table on casters, which raises it up some what, so I'm thinking about doing that. Oh, also, if I have to cut out something particularly large or awkward, I will move my dining table downstairs and cut out on the floor of my dining room/kitchen area.

I loved this video, I have a room of a similar size as a guest room and would love to turn it into my sewing room as currently I use the third small bedroom ( it has a brown carpet too! Totally impractical). I wanted to replace my two single beds and someone suggested the ikea bed you have shown today - you've totally sold it to me. Now all I need to do is plan what furniture I need to change and buy one of those fab folding down tables. Your room is really lovely and I like the blue and white theme.
@Threadquarters7 жыл бұрын
Oh fab, glad I was able to help with your furniture decisions for your transformation! Hope it goes well. Your house sounds a bit like mine. We have 3 bedrooms too and currently my 2yr old son is in our smallest room....but I know when he gets older I'm going to have to swap with him and try and squeeze my sewing stuff into a much smaller room! Eek - not looking forward to that...think I need to sew through a big chunk of my fabric stash first!

Hi Suzanna, I'm waiting for my son to leave home so that I can convert his room, so looking for ideas and secretly planning until that day. Do you find the Ikea drop-leaf sturdy enough when you are sewing and did your husband put castors on or just easy to pull as there is no carpet?
@Threadquarters7 жыл бұрын
Sorry for the delay in replying. Yes, the drop-leaf table to perfectly stable when sewing. I don't have castors on it...yet! It's something I've been thinking about doing actually. The table to very heavy to move about. It was nearly impossible when there was carpet in the room, but now that its a wooden floor it is easier. But castors would be a very good idea. PLUS, its too low as a cutting table (sore on the back), so castors would raise it up a bit as well.

No problem, thanks for taking the time - we are all busy!

So glad your back!! Missed you so much. I love your sewing/guest room which you've planned beautifully. Suggestion, how about painting your spice racks to match other bits on your sewing wall? I bought 6 recently, painting so I can put inside shower, one four me, son and fiance ( living with me to save for house, and so many toiletries!!) The other 3 are painted also, put beside handbasin as the unit handbasin sits on hardly has a space on it, so useful for cleansers, make up brushes, toothbrushes, etc and they look good painted. Take less space in shower than the Lakeland 3 basket shower holder and hold those shampoos etc more tidily, which is great with 3 of us, especially as they'll be here for 2/3 yes or more.... Now to get to IKEA in Belfast for something for bathroom door as I've forgotten each time I've been, I wonder why? Haha.....
@Threadquarters7 жыл бұрын
Aw Janet, so so flattered that you missed my vlogs! I did think about painting the spice racks, but decided to keep them the natural wood colour as they tie in well with the clipboard, cork board and folding table. That is such a great idea to use them in your bathroom! Oh yes....if I don't go to Ikea with a specific list, I ALWAYS forget something...and end up with about 10 things I didn't even know I HAD to have! lol

Your sewing room is lovely, there's so much light! The light in mine is rubbish. I love the plastic zippy folders, very useful. Where did you get them please? I shall look forward to the fabric video, there are some beauties in there, and it makes me feel a bit better about the amount of fabric that I have!! Lynne

Thanks Lynne. The folders were just from Amazon (my other source for everything other than Ikea! lol). Oh gosh, I am such a fabric hoarder! lol.

Is it possible for you to do a beginner friendly sewing patterns how to and then r patterns to try
@Threadquarters6 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the suggestion - I've actually been working on a beginners sewing pattern video so hopefully that will be up soon, but I hadn't thought about making a pattern how to video, so I'll definitely think about that!

Where did you get the small bins from your sewing machine table
@Threadquarters6 жыл бұрын
Do you mean the little plastic boxes in the drawers of the folding table? They were from Ikea (like almost everything in my room! lol)
