Sew is the word of the day. I am typing this at 3:02pm. I am 78 years old and have been sewing since I was a child, but quilting for about 20 years. I learned something today - threading the needle with a loop and looping the thread through rather than making a knot. What a great idea! 😊

Hi Kathi! I love it when I can pass along a trick such as that. I'm glad you like it! I remember when I was taught to do that. I was actually using it to cross stitch and I had been making knots in the back of my cross stitch work. I was sitting at the doctor's office waiting for one of my children's appointments and the lady sitting next to me told me that she had an easier way and she showed me the way to do it without a knot.

I have a project for my granddaughter that I have been trying to decide things on. Decisions are what slows me down. Anyway, have been sitting and hand basting on part of it while watching this. Oh, I ended up here because of seeing you live on Robin's Live the other day.

I had also thought about Easter, St. Patricks Day, etc Cards. Why not? I most generally buy cards for those occasions, so why not make some? I think it's a fantastic idea! I'm so glad you found me. Robin is a sweetheart and I've been watching her videos for quite a few years now. She was so kind to announce my channel on her live feed. It really helped others to find me. I'm going to be doing some contests, etc upcoming to try to get more subscribers by having people share the videos with their sewing friends, etc. More about the contests soon in an upcoming video.

I just love the process! As you may have noticed, I showed a few of my crumb sections in one of my first videos. Since that time, I've thought of a lot of things we can make with those sections of crumbs. To me, they're just gorgeous! I bet your bedding is top-notch! It sounds absolutely beautiful! Hi Betty! Yes, I had actually tried the Gutterman thread, too. It ended up that the whole thing was due to an issue with my sewing machine and not the thread, after all. There was a bad electronic sensor in my sewing machine and that's what was causing all my upset. I traded one sewing machine for the same exact machine and haven't had those issues at all. Thank you so much for watching and dropping by to try to help me with my problem, I appreciate you!

Hi Theresa! I'm so glad that you are joining us for this scrappy journey! That's a great description - journey! I understand when you say you have that many scraps. I have numerous bags, those cat litter buckets that hold 35lbs of litter, shopping bag and various boxes. Then, I have some that are already sorted and in containers. So yeah, scraps are real! When I told my husband that 2022 was going to be the "year of the scraps", I thought it would be perfect to start my KZbin channel and show everyone all the items I make with scraps and have others sew along with me. I mean, we all have scraps! So, I challenged myself to make as many items, using as many scraps as I possibly can. I also am challenging myself to not buy anything that I don't absolutely have to. It's all about using what I (we) have on hand. I look forward to getting to know you and the others over the coming time, throughout the videos. Thanks for subscribing and for commenting!

I’ll notice several different youtube channels will make the same project within a week or two of each other. Not that anyone is copying but we all just seem to think of the same project around the same time. I subscribed recently and I’ve been enjoying your videos. I have a little trick for you to easily link to other channels. In your description box if you type @ and then the channel name KZbin will add the link for you. Yes, Kerry. It’s funny, because almost every comment you’ve made is something that I have thought of so we definitely think about the same things. After I started making the postcards, I thought of how I could make anniversary cards and birthday cards, etc. in the same way. I also thought that I could take card paper, fold it in half and make a realistic looking card, but also add fabric to it.
@silverpromidi2 жыл бұрын
@@MariesScrappyCreations that is the kind of thing I was thinking about, making the material card front and then either sewing it or gluing it to the card front. Sewing would be safer 😀 bring out your 'not so good' needle for that job though, cardstock and paper kill needles. I do that a lot with journals that I make when I sew lace and other bits and pieces together.

I detest having my picture taken and I wasn’t sure I could get in front of the camera and do anything. But I absolutely love it. Isn’t that funny about the drawing? It’s true in my family, too. My mom is a beautiful artist, but I can’t draw a stick person and make it look like a person. But, I think we all have our talents and of course they’re different from everyone else’s. Yes, the postcards are truly postcards that can be mailed. I plan on doing a tutorial soon on these and I think there will be quite a bit of interest because they’re quite a novelty. I mailed some out for Valentine’s Day to some of my friends, family and to the grandchildren and they were a huge hit! Some of them for the kids, I fussy cut around children’s fabric just to make them fun.

I have a question about using a leader - what keeps it from getting pushed down into the hole?
@MariesScrappyCreations Жыл бұрын
Hi Debbie! Great question, thank you! I actually just covered your question (errr, I tried to, ha ha) on this past weeks What’s Up Wednesday. (June 21). I mostly use one piece of fabric, folded in half and I continuously stitch on it until it is humped up with thread before throwing it and starting with another piece. I don’t start sewing from the very edge of the leader fabric, I place my presser foot down on the fabric so it’s in a bit from the edge. I haven’t always don’t this, but I’ve learned that it worked best for me, over time. As I mentioned during the live stream, other sewers will use leaders and Enders and sew scraps together, which I s fine. But, since I am trying to keep the fabric out of the hole, I feel that way defeats my purpose. Here is the link, if you’re interested kzbin.infoiXRwdf2Gr_c?feature=share

Hi Patty! It depends on the size of your crumbs and the way in which you quilt them. Many times, I make small projects from my crumb blocks and when I do make quilts, I make sure to use a denim (size 16) needle in the machine and go a bit slower than usual.
