Just discovered the machine that was my MIL's (Miss ya Mama Betty! RIP) is from 1963. I absolutely can't wait to start my new sewing adventure on a vintage machine (once we get it serviced because it hasn't been used since the 90s). I don't leave the house without a corset, and I've been wanting to make one specifically for me since I've just been buying off the rack, so this is a good place to start! Perfect timing!

I think it’s the hairstyle reminding me of your Bettie bangs but you look so old-school-blog-Gertie in this video! ❤ Love the new Foundation patterns!!

Love your sewing patterns so much ❤ Would you ever consider doing a vintage hair tutorial for long hair btw? They tend to be tailored more towards short, and yours is just perfect 😍

I’ve made a few Victorian corsets and can’t wait to try the waist cincher. I’m thinking it can be modified to have a front busk. I like the ease of getting in and out front opening stays.

I wish I could wear waist cinchers! I have a rib deformity that makes them flare out at the bottom, so I can't really get much if any compression of my midsection around them. Beautiful work!

Wow! Can't wait to get started on this!

I love the fact that you have foundation garments!!! I can't wait to get started on them!! I do have a question though - How do you stretch out the Bohin pin cushion wrist band? I have had mine for 2 years, and it is so tight I can't wear it! It's a shame too, because it is quite lovely!

Hi Gertie, For people who cant use steel boning for medical reason, is there another form of boning for people like me. Thanks

This is such a great tutorial. Is there any reason you can't use the burrito method to sandwich the seam allowances when adding the second side panel and the back panels?
@GertiesWorld3 ай бұрын
No reason at all. It might be a very tight burrito in the smaller sizes, but give it a try!

Could you use the burrito method to attach the second side panel or would this not work?

I have severe shoulder problems. Is there a reason I can’t make mine front opening?

Is this the same as the butterick b6643?

just out of curiosity, how does this pattern differ from B6643 and B6530 if we already have those?
@TheMerryMoth3 ай бұрын
I'm pretty sure the primary difference is going to be sizing/measurements. The original pattern was published with Butterick's sizing which doesn't extend as far as Charm's does.

Thanks for asking! The new Foundations Waist Cincher is in Charm's full size range (2-34) and is designed to fit with the appropriate amount of negative ease. Butterick's block is very different from Charm's, and they added extra ease (which means the B6643 won't cinch in the way that the Foundations Waist Cincher is designed to. The design of the Foundations Petticoat has a yoke plus 4 tiers, and each tier is designed for organza or chiffon. The B5630 petticoat only has 2 tiers, designed with tulle or nylon net in mind. There's a few other minor details, but if you're looking for real vintage-style fluff, the Foundations Petticoat will deliver!
