Seams pressed open are really weak seams over time. Is there a method for sewing them with seams to the side?

I use a little glue at the points it lays flatter because pins really get in the way

When sewing triangles together, does it matter if you’re matching straight edge To straight edge or are you sewing bias sides together ??

Does it matter...yes and no. 🙂It helps to know which edge you're dealing with so you know to account for the stretch (or not). I find it easiest to line up bias against the straight edge and keep the straight edge on my feed dogs and the bias edge under my pressor foot. This allows you better control of the bias edge and keeps the machine from inadvertently stretching the bias edge. Having said that, there's almost always at least a few instances in which I'm left with two biased edges and it can't be helped. In that case, I try to let the machine do all the work of feeding the fabric and try to avoid having to touch my work beyond keeping the seam allowance straight. I hope this helps! - Betsy F., customer service at C&T Publishing

Thanks , it does help! I tried doing triangles for a tree , and something must have happened when I put the ends on. Used horizontal straight edge and now The whole tree is kinda wavy. Maybe I should have either alternated or went wi vertical strait grain

Really wish the book was more clear on which seem allowance should be used. There were a few blocks that came up short because a scant quarter inch seem was clearly needed.

aren't all quilt seams a scant 1/4" for quilting books?

Hi Sami! That works great for half square triangles! Rebecca is working with 60 degree triangles in this video. If you'd like to see more examples of how she sews at various angles - check out her book linked in the description.
