Hi Helen! Only machines with embroidery attachments can embroidery, but your machine IS able to drop feed dogs, so you can use a darning foot to do free motion sewing.

Did you hoop your stabilizer or did you just stick it to the hooped fabric after hooping it?

I thought you were supposed to hoop and put stabilizer for freehand machine embroidery. Is that not necessary on newer Brother sewing machines?
@SewingPartsOnline2 жыл бұрын
Hello Sandra! I can understand the confusion. In this video, Sarah used a method called floating. When you float, you hoop the stabilizer; however, to attach the fabric that you will be embroidering, you use a basting spray. There are other ways to attach it like a sticky stabilizer. Here is a link from our Beginner's Guide to Embroidery. Floating is mentioned at timestamp 4 :24. I hope that this helps. kzbin.info/www/bejne/m4XOhYWjed5po80

I installed this open toe foot on my cs600i but I was not able to do the free motion , kindly advise me and what kind of quilting guide do I need to get to do the free motion quilting Thanks again for your kind assistance bs

As long as you are using a compatible open toe foot, you do not need any additional pieces. You do, however, need to: 1. Lower the feed dogs 2. Turn stitch length to 0 (you will be controlling the stitch length by how fast or slow you move the fabric.) 3. Change your needle to a Topstitch needle or you may have issues with thread breakage. Just in case the presser foot that you have is not meant for your machine, here is a link for one that is compatible with the Brother CS6000i: www.sewingpartsonline.com/low-shank-open-toe-darning-foot.aspx I hope this helps.

This is a GREAT tutorial, thank you so much. The reason I went searching for this is because last week, I attached my embroidery foot perfectly. This week, it falls off every time I lower the lever. The left side is secured with the screw, but the right side doesnt seem to be holding its position. I am doing everything you showed and no luck, the machine is about to go out the window hahah. Any ideas?

it's not necessary to feed the thread through the loop in the foot as you would do with a sewing presser foot?
