QUEEN, your makeup is NOT the right type for your skin tone. You are beautiful without it, if you like your lipstick just use it or get the proper makeup for your skin color. I like watching you old styles.❤️

I’m only wearing lipstick. I don’t wear foundation so my literal skin isn’t the right match for my skin color????.

First thing- those jello salad pattern weights are the most adorable thing I’ve ever seen. The dress turned out so charming and that’s such a flattering color on you! Getting the pieces lined up properly is the thing I loathe the most about sewing with silky fabrics, but I don’t see a single hint of bubbling! Great job!

This dress is gorgeous, and you look fantastic in it! I've actually seen this vintage pattern before, but passed it by because I couldn't visualize what I would make it out of. I'm also very impressed by the sewing tips spread throughout your video. I kept thinking, "Oh, yes, that makes sense--what a great idea!"

My grandmother sewed for people when I was very young (late ‘50s and early ‘60s) so all of your lovely sewing looks quite familiar to me. She taught me so much as well as my other grandmother. I love how you use French seams to finish the edges. A lot of people today serge raw edges…but besides French seams…if you’re going for vintage techniques…another edge finish is to pink the seams with pinking shears. My grandmother did that a lot. I majored in home ec years ago and was taught to do a running straight stitch right beside the pinked edge. This technique will allow your seams to lie flatter (due to the pinking) and also avoid some raveling (due to the pinking plus the inside straight seam). I just found your channel and subscribed. You are extremely talented in dressmaking and quite a talented model as well. Love your content!

I so love the vintage clothing you produce. Suits from the 40s-70s were some of my absolute favorites. Discovered in my mid-20s that I look best in suits/pants suits and straight line dresses like this new one you've sewn. Love the looks of that dress on you. Reminds me of some of the dresses I've seen in the 1940s-50s movies with Katharine Hepburn, etc. I do enjoy watching you do such extraordinary work using that classic Kenmore. So many young sewing enthusiasts believe they've got to go out and spend a fortune of some of these current machines, when I firmly feel securing a vintage Kenmore, and having it cleaned, oiled, etc, will give them countless years of sewing joy. I have tried to encourage a mother, who has a 18 yr old who wants to learn to sew, to secure a vintage Kenmore, Singer or White vs. going to Walmart to get something which will not have the same longevity.or durability.

I am older (60) and used to wear my grandmother's garments from the 30s and 40s from the time I was in 7th grade thru my early 20s. Rayon was the perfect fabric for the drape and lines of those beautiful pieces. What beautiful work you do! Following on IG also. You are so creative and inspiring also. The gathering at the bust is so cute! Im currently sewing a 1940s blouse in a thin shifty thrifted fabric, Im thinking maybe it was meant as a lining but its opaque enough to wear on its own…thank you for the tip on reducing stitch length and tension with the less stable fabrics, I’m on my second mock-up and didn’t get puckers this time. I love that we can all learn from each other no matter where we are in the journey.

Beautiful dress. So classy and feminine. The hat is adorable. Hope you have a great Valentines Day and dressed like that you should get plenty of compliments! I used to struggle with Simplicity patterns. Didn’t dare attempt Vogue or McCalls. The modern patterns are getting harder and harder to figure out. I have pretty much given sewing. I always enjoyed it but with the patterns the way they are I don’t mess with it anymore. It’s a treat to watch you sew!

I love your videos !!!!! I recommend a roller foot for all Center seams and all darts. Both the bottom and the top fabric go under the foot at the same speed. So yeah it's great for any seam that you do not want the automatic ease that's on your machine. It's been a lifesaver.

An easier way to do that lapped seam. Sew the seam right sides together as a normal seam then press both seam allowances to one side and then top stitch 1/8” away through all three layers.
