The thinly veiled horror in alex's eyes... it shows that they all eventually caved to the network's demands in order to survive, and are acting like everything's fine just to live. i'm not sure if that's worse than the alternative ending with all of them shunning the outside world and creating their own tribe inside the sex house. damn, this series was incredible

Erin--Ya honestly don't know. I gave the baby up to a wealthy couple, caz I'm focusing on my blogging now. Wtf, it's your child..I lost my child caz of drug use. I lost her when she was 3 & my head was so screwed up. I started using more, I was in mental hospitals over it because I couldn't believe I let myself lose her caz I couldn't get clean. I hated myself, I would cut my arms up, anything just to numb the pain unhurt of losing her, all the way up until the day she found me when she was 18 and then I was happy again. 😀😀😀😀UNTIL I found out she told me she was a abused by her alcoholic father, it tore me apart & put me back into depression again. He told me if I sign her over to him, he would allow me to see her. He was clean at that time & I trusted him, & now I feel she was better off with cys, & I hate those people, only caz they took my child, but now that I'm older I realize, it was for the best. I wasn't being a good mother, even tho I thought I was & no child deserves a mother strung out on herion. I just wish my mother never lied.. My mom--- if anything would ever bad happen to my grandkids I would never let cys have them, they would always come to me. I'm her grandma Hope, come on. All FUCKING LIES!!!! Then when I need her the most, she's says she washes her hands of me & told the Judge she doesn't want custody of my daughter. I hated her for years n still do. She told my brothers n sisters the same & I got a nefew & a niece in cys care too. People makes mistakes, but my mother is the only one who is allowed to, no one else is. I love her but I have so much hate in me for the things that she let happen to us when we were younger. I can't believe Erin was selfish n put blogging before her child. For Erin--Ya you where a ho, but big deal. Your child would rather be with you then be given up caz of your blogging!! I'm sure they wouldn't care of you being a who're, but I would be mad if my mom gave me up caz she cared more about blogging. Although I wish I was adopted caz I caused my family pain lime they done to us. Well they cause 98% of my pain. I caused 3% can't caz pain when no one cares about you anyways.

Debra Smitty Ms. Smitty, I loved it for the actors. I loved it for the scenarios. I loved the pitch perfect cinematography and general script that gave it the perfect "trashy MTV show" feel. I loved it for the message it implies about the oversexualization of the media and society. I love how it fools people into believing they are watching something as sick as a show about people banging, but then it turns into a mini horror series. I love that despite all that they have been through, they come out of the show learning almost nothing at all; like the experience did nothing but make them turn into more of the same kind of people. It's hilarious, and very surprisingly poignant. I'm not sick for enjoying a sick reflection of society.

This episode is the real horror show. Even after witnessing and experiencing the horror of reality TV and media trying to use people, objectify them, turn their joy and their suffering and all their thoughts and choices into a product to put in an elaborate story on TV, even after rebelling against being manipulated, they still go back to living the vapid, greedy, objectified life style of social media influencers or reality TV stars. The real horror is that even after the terrors of the world are brought to light, nothing changes.

No, this is not an happy ending. In the end they ended up becoming exactly what everyone expected them to be. The answers they are giving, the stories they are telling, this whole interview is something that could have happened in a normal reality show, while some of what they said was a reference to the horrible stuff that happened. This is a proof that they fully became and did what "america wanted them to be". Another sign is when they discovered the light, but they closed it again.

Huh? No that was platos theory about how human beings see the world. Like he assumed there was much more behind what anyone could see and that there were ways to come close to it like with art but you could never quite reach it. Its the foundation of his philosophy which was the foundation of the idea of heaven that was used in christianity. Its not about humans not wanting to look at the shadows, its that they cant.

@suncu91
@suncu91 4 жыл бұрын
@@faeth3641 i know you wrote this a year ago but i just read your comment. Plato's allegory of the cave has nothing to do with this show. Ill try retelling the story. Plato's allegory of the cave explains why as we get the closer you are to the truth, the harder it is to explain it to other people and other see it as jibberish. In the story, people are chained facing the wall and see shadows of people walking behind them. They can only see shadows but never the people. they start recognising different shadows. This shadow brings food, this one brings water. The people who are the best at inturprating the shadows (this shadow brings bananas and this one grape juice) are celebrated as smart and wise because their knowledge os useful. One day a man decides to turn his head and see whats behind him. He is blinded by the light but he continues to stare he sees the real objects and he decides to see where they are going. As he is getting closer to the exit he is blinded by the light and it is harder and harder for him to see with every step he makes. But as his eyes adjust slowly and he starts seeing the world as it is, not just the shadow of things. As he comes back and starts explaining it to everyone his eyes are not adjusted to the dark cave. And no one believes him. They think "what does this idiot knows about the world. He can't even see the difference between the shadow that brings food from the one that brings water. Yet he tells us that it's us who are blind" The first part of the story explains that learning is hard (you are blinded by the light and can't see clearly but get adjusted to it eventually) The second part is about the struggle to explain the same knowledge to others. Compare it to quantum mechanics. Its so complicated that only a few people actually truly understand it, and when they try to explain ot to us it sounds silly, full of paradoxes and impossibilities. Or even better look at medieval pictures of giraffes. People who drew them never actually seen one so pictures look fantastical and strange. Plato's point is not to ridicule the thinkers because they are only but explorers. They can't use their knowledge practically, but we should still listen to them and try to think of practical ways to use their knowledge.

This has been one of my favorite stories for years now and I find myself watching it again every few months. It’s absolutely terrifying and genius and the humor darkens with every episode. And at the end you have this “reunion” where they found replacements for the actors, implying they killed the originals. And season 2 is just the same show all over again. I just think it’s neat.

I don't they got replacement because of the look of horror on Alex's face when she finds out he boyfriend is actually the voice from in the house, its an exact trauma response no random replacement actor would have

My theory is that the original cast members are still inside the sex house. These are just look alike actors. Notice how the fake therapist put so much emphasis on how fake they were? Or the different character traits that some of the cast displayed? Derrick turned heterosexual, and Frank divorced his wife. But hey, that’s just a theory...

You’re right but maybe, I’m more partial to the idea that in response to there trauma they’ve adopted the traits the show runners wanted because they feel like they could have made it out if they had just done what the show runners wanted moral or not.

@@kolamoose8717 Or that what we saw was never the reality of the situation, just like reality TV but to an even greater degree. The contestants at the end are now out of character, they were really just actors playing roles, the "reality" was always a pretense. Just like most reality TV.

This series is one of the most intelligent pieces of satire I’ve watched, it gave me some of the same feelings I experienced when reading 1984 and Fahrenheit 451 but it was veiled by a seemingly humorous, yet very dark, structure. It was amazing.

I am truly worried for humanity when I see comments on every Onion video from people who think they're geniuses because they "discovered" that it's fake, or worse yet, haven't even figured out that it's satire. What is wrong with people??? I know we can't all be Einstein but really?

At the end of Ep9, I felt like everyone had grown as a person, I was rooting for everyone, Erin, Jay, even Frank. But here they reverted to empty husks. More hollow than when they began the show. Are they even the real contestants?
