Tomac heard what AP. Said at the press conference he was telling him please I want to go bad to make up from last year. He better do good we all know by October Tomac will be at top form so AP this is a big race for you good luck
@bradw.4914 ай бұрын
I love AP, but who we send to MXDN is about their ceiling. AP had an incredible year, but on most weekends, with a full, healthy field, right now he is still a 3th-6th place guy. That's what the season proved. Tomac, while just back from injury, is still building fitness, is on a new-to-him bike for outdoors, and in his second race was already very close to AP's pace. We don't know exactly what Tomac's ceiling is at this point, but we know from previous seasons that it's probably going to get much higher in the coming weeks. While I commend Tomac for trying to be 'nice'....this is about trying the WIN the Des Nations, and us fans want the guys that give us the best chance to go there and win! Period. Give the fans a list of who has said they'll go, and let the fans vote!

I'm a Tomac fan even more than AP but I disagree. I think Tomac has a higher ceiling but AP is the best he's ever been and he's improving. He has steadily improved all year and is starting to believe that he belongs running with Chase and Hunter. You can hear it in the way he talks and he's getting close to being right. There is no guarantee that Tomac is going to be at his best by then. Recent results show that AP is probably our best chance as the #2 guy in the US. He's also stronger at holeshots than Tomac has historically been which means a lot at a race like this. Chase, AP, and Deegan are an insanely strong team that has a very high chance of winning. AP deserves to go this year because he earned it.
@MathewVsSportsMediaandGames4 ай бұрын
Deegan being given a 5 PM deadline for the MXDN team had to have been the most idiotic thing they had to do! What happened to asking others like Chance Hymas or Levi Kitchen, or perhaps asking if J-Coop wants to ride a 250 one last time??? Eli Tomac bowing out of the MXDN consideration was something I thought might happen for sure. He wasn't riding like the Eli Tomac we saw last year before that Achilles injury, and he still was not at Budds or Ironman. I'd predicted Sexton as the 450 champ after Jett Lawrence (my original pick) announced he was done for the MX season just on experience alone and he made me look like a genius. I just didn't think Hunter Lawrence was experienced enough on the 450 to win this title, but I didn't doubt he'd win an overall. Good stuff as usual, Cooksey!

Sexton was definitely handed the SX title when Tomac got injured. I thought the same, at first, for MX when Jett got injured. But, I saw Sexton get better as the season progressed, or at least it appeared that way. Sexton wasn't beating Hunter at first & was struggling with consistency. By the end, he was consistently going 1-1 or 2-1 & winning overalls .. bu alot. So, I do believe he earned this championship title. But, I guess we'll see when Jett returns & is back to full form. Probably by SMX #3 or MXDN.

Part of winning the championship is finishing, when you don't finish, it is a BIG part of the championship, if you ride over your head, you end up on it, the guys that ride within their limits know they are riding smart, some guys that are so fast nobody can touch them end up getting hurt, (and not finishing). That is a unique part of motocross, a LOT of ducks have to line up for you to win it all, the rider is in control of a few of these things, he just has to make sure he says in control. Actually Hunter was winning the championship when jet exited. Also, just was down around 20 points after thst crash & he made all.thise points back up & was tied with Sexton & like 4 behind Hunter when he pulled out. So not bashing Sexton, but no chance he would of beat a healthy Jett

If only people could live in the land of what ifs.. what if I picked the right lottery numbers.. What if I made good decisions when I was young.. What if someone dialed it back and stayed healthy for a series. What if they pushed the limit and got hurt... Oh. That's what happened.

Sexton has a lot more natural talent than Reed….reed had the mental edge that sexton has been trying to find….chad could thrive under pressure. He was stubborn. Anytime sexton has been heavily pressured by someone with the same talent he would tuck the front end. I don’t think Reed and sexton are comparable….reed never was seen to have the speed. Sexton had the speed but folded like a lawn chair under pressure. Just my opinion. We all have them….

Stop bro hes had tomac go down when he was gonna coast to a title and was leading that race... and now no jett Lawrence... stop bro both his titles have * next to it in my book. When he finally beats the best guy without them getting hurt then I'll believe it. And let's not act like Hunter Lawrence was an also hurt after that crazy fall. Because when he came back from the two weeks off he was winning motos so I'm not convinced
@FastEddy3014 ай бұрын
Not this title. The Tomac title, yes, Tomac did nothing wrong, and fate handed it to Sexton. This championship, Eli fell hurt himself and couldn't compete. Jett fell hurt himself and could not compete. That's on Jett and Eli. Sexton didn't fall and get hurt, and that's part of the game. Look at Herlings, more MXGP wins than any rider on history, and only has 2 championships!! Carrolli has 9! Events 10. Part of this whole deal is keeping yourself healthy and on the bike. If ya can't do that, you do not deserve the championship, period. Thats why we do so many races to see who is the best, not the fastest. Jett was getting away with murder before Hangtown, and it finally caught up to him.
@3uvakind1264 ай бұрын
@FastEddy301 I agree that it's part of the game, that's in every sport. But, I don't think that chase Sexton was the fastest on the track when he won his Supercross title and I don't think he was faster than jett pre-injury . Obviously you can't take away the titles but I think he earned them through the ability not to get hurt and not by being the fastest guy on the track consistently. He is the fastest guy in the second Moto without jett Laurence in the field clearly he is in better shape than anyone else on the track.

MXoN is a one off event. It's supposed to be about pride for your country. not money. Olympics don't payout. The people get paid from sponsors. Some countries will give their athletes prices like cars or other stuff. Not the U.S though.

Any team would give Deegan anything he wants. He is set to be one of the best 450 guys in the next two years. Why would you upset him and not let him go if he actually wants it. (You risk losing him to another team come contact time) If Deegan doesn’t go then he doesn’t want to go and he’s just using star as an excuse. Why do you think honda are so happy to let Jet go every year even though it cost a lot of money and he could get hurt…
