There's something to say for the sudden arousal of the body. It's not always or only about fantasy or sexual thoughts. Sometimes what might make it difficult for a person to overcome their temptation is the sudden physical arousal.

I once heard a Homily that people who truly waited for marriage in the Catholic Church have a euphoria in the beginning of their sex life as a married couple, so what about people who have been chaste for years and are now practicing Catholics, can we not gain this grace back?

Jason, can you please pray for me? My addictions are different than your regular woman. I am a very visual person. I am also sensitive to sounds. My responses are a mix of male & female characteristics. In the beginning, the storyline was a big part of the draw. Then, after a while, it was all about the visual end of things. The sounds, in particular, always drew me in. Mostly, it's the sound & a particular position and pace of movement. The big thing is that I am only sexually attracted to women, so straight sex scenes don't have any effect on me as I am not sexually attracted to men. I am emotionally attached to men; I can be physically attracted to them and not want to be intimate with them. So, it's all about the women, which makes me feel 100,000 times worse as I am a woman. Any ideas on combating both male & female triggers/turn-ons/responses?

Be assured of my prayers, Haley. One thing I'd recommend is to check out Kelsey's book, Uncompromising Purity, which is great, since it focuses only on women and the battle with lust. Also, make sure to remove all sources of supply, meaning those things that you find trigger your senses (as much as you're able). Temptations are bound to come, but often we're the ones providing 90% of the fuel. As you renounce the desire to be tempted, you'll find the urges become more manageable.

@@Chastityproject When I got a new lap-top, I told myself never to use it for these means. I managed to keep that vow. When my dad bought me a new cellphone, I made the same vow and kept it. Same goes for when I bought myself a new Tablet. The only device left, that I try to limit my use for these means, is my iPod. I have an old cellphone that I use to read those kind of books - thankfully, they have lost most of their power over me. In general, things of this nature are slowly starting to lose their charms for me. I know that with Jesus, by my side as he has been since my childhood, I can one day break the last vestiges of these two sins. Thank you for your help & advice. I have read most of yours & Crystalina's books with great interest! I will read Kelsey's book. I am very happy that, despite these struggles, my virginity is still fully intact. Praise God!
