New book 'Virtue Signaling' available now on Amazon: amzn.to/2PTe0NH
What's the difference between physical fitness and sexual fitness?
I analyze what does the Paleo movement gets right and wrong about the evolution, biology, and psychology of sexual attractiveness.
Takeaways:
(1) it's not all about 'survival of the fittest'
(2) formidability isn't the same as hotness
(3) sexual function is a reliable fitness indicator

I am SO grateful you posted this. I have enjoyed following many of the great minds in the Ancestral/Paleo/Primal/WAP/Keto/IF communities and it looks like I'll be now following what you've been up to. I'm very shortly going to hit a big age milestone (I literally hate the words)... but, most folks my age aren't enjoying much sex. It's something that I strive to keep active in my life and I know for sure that for me the Paleo lifestyle has helped me maintain my vigor and interest. This is a very important topic for me and I appreciate your detailed understanding of how everything works. 'Extremely well done!

Seems like a person willing to offend people with honest unvarnished ideas. I like it.

Some corrections are worthwhile here. 1) The 'notion' that the ape's fighting traits will disappear if they "have no interest in copulating with females" is oversimplified. Traits that exist will not disappear unless there is selective pressures against those traits. 2) the 'incel' concept is a Twitter-verse slur (a female undergrad created the first incel blog to garner sympathetic voices). In biology, we discuss fringe bachelor populations that are extant in several mammalian species (notably deer). They exist on the fringe, but still manage to sneak in and copulate to preserve the genetic diversity. Don't say incel. Stay above the twitter-verse slur idioms, twitter is not academia.

And what about PROXIMITY? Are you ever going to describe the importance of proximity?

@@peegeebeedee7563 Sexual fitness depends upon proximity to sexual partners. Proximity is the biggest single factor. If there are no mates available, mating is impossible. In reproductive biology, proximity to potential mates is a major factor that can render all other factors moot.

Is it given? I submit that proximity is always important and thus always needs to be explicitly addressed and cannot be implicitly dismissed out-of-hand without weakening the thesis. Hypothesis: Maybe the "human zoo" we are in (i.e. Desmond Morris "Human Zoo") perturbs proximity in ways that the "close knit" tribe adaptation cannot adjust to. For example, the nuclear family or suburban spread or global relocation removes us from our kin. Everyone's a stranger, an other, an opponent tribe. Alternatively, maybe the prolonged daily commute and workplace regimen consumes so much time that the only proximal partners are at work (and now cultural rules are prohibiting workplace pairings). Culture used to foster pairings, now it outlaws or punishes them. And there are more ways in which proximity to marital mates is interfered with. The factors like proximity are not irrelevant, and oversimplified schemes that don't address proximity are suspicious. This is true b/c some environments offer proximity overload (too many) while others prohibit reproductive success. Proximity is just another way of looking at availability of partners. Maybe I am overstating the point due to my proximity to alcohol. :)
