Junior Boakye, Sarkodie is only riding on the class and international success of our Nigerian artistes because Ghana don't have much hustlers in entertainment, only music enthusiasts. One thing I have come to know about Ghana is that they are very proud people never giving honor to who it is due and that's so annoying. When u bring them into stuff, they quickly claim it as theirs even though they know nothing about how that thing will continue in its tracks
@Ko_kB7 жыл бұрын
Don't be salty bruh. To generalise about a whole people group's music culture is not clever. I have found many Nigerians find it hard to accept Ghanaian music has had influence on Nigerian music. Y'all forgot about the Azonto craze that hit a few years back. It influenced Nigerian styles. Today I hear a lot of Nigeria musicians using very Ghanaian rhythm patterns. Let's not forget about one of the greatest musicians Africa has ever know, Nigerian legend Fela Kuti. He spent time in Ghana in the late sixties and high life, which is indisputably a genre that originated in Ghana, really influenced him along with other styles. If Fela the father of afrobeats was influenced by high life so there is already Ghanaian influence in a lot of contemporary Nigerian pop music. I will also freely admit Nigerian music has also significantly influenced Ghana. This is what happens when countries and cultures which have a lot in common, more than both sides will care to admit, interact with one another. Just enjoy the music and if you don't that's ok too. Don't try to devalue you it because you can't appreciate it while countless others do
@Ko_kB7 жыл бұрын
And to argue Sarkodie is riding on the coat tails of Nigerian musicians is shocking. Sarkodie is known for performing mostly in his own language. If he was jumping on the bandwagon that linguistic barrier alone would not allow him to be successful. You are trying to say without understanding him he could successfully convince Nigerian artists to promote him. That is a big stretch. Sarkodie offered something unique and that is why he has cross over appeal. Let me refer to the Azonto craze which totally originated from Ghana and gained international acclaim, Sarkodie was one of the earliest pioneers of the movement. When Sarkodie was getting international recognition from the likes of Akon in in the early 2010s I doubt he had barely started to collaborate with other African artists. As for the whole thing with Ghanaians being proud, are you telling me Nigerians aren't. I'm yet to meet a people group in the world which is not proud of their culture and guard it jealously. When you make such statements again please add facts with real arguments and not pure unsupported sentiment
