"Acceptable?" Dear Seymour, your playing is always exquisite, but you are playing this intermezzo as gorgeously as I've ever heard you play. I've just listened to it three times-the dogs have, too-and now I have to tear myself away and take them for their walk. Thank you, thank you, thank you for this sublime performance.

Shari, I can't tell you how moved I am by your response. You are truly special and among the relatively few people in the world who wish only to benefit others. My deepest thanks.Seymour

Dear Seymour- There's a tenderness in your playing of this piece that makes my eyes tear up. The combination of Bernstein and Brahms is deeply emotional. Thank you for everything you do for all of us listeners and especially for those of us who have been lucky enough to have you in our lives. I have to chuckle at your use of the word "acceptable"!!! I guess talents like yours can always envision "more", but I can't!

Seymour, what do you think of Gould’s interpretation of this piece? I have found it to be possibly the only recording in which he allows himself rubato. As for proof that he was capable of being tender, I think it is good!!!

One of the most unnecessary performances I've ever heard: artificial, superficial, redundant. "You play it your way, I play it Braqhms' way!"
