I copped a pair in black and gold for my Jackson SLX X series 2020 Lava Orange Crackle which I’ve customized with black and adonized gold titanium pieces. what’s interesting about my set was that I got The neck pickup for a Floyd rose set up where the neck pickup has to have the standard spacing for the narrowing of the strings as they come closer to the finger board the string gap has to match the Pole pieces for those of you who don’t know,and had MJ Set the output for the neck position and also can be flipped on the neck where the crazy 8 north coil is closer to the neck for split coil action on customized wiring.Straight fire,especially if you can play arpeggiated runs or playing triplets really hear that single coil twang. #BUFFALO #NEWYORK
@vorpalblades8 ай бұрын
Pole pieces do not have to line up with strings. Vintage pickups are one size.
@fraterlemuele.s.l.d.64358 ай бұрын
@@vorpalblades These are not Vintage pickups and String spacing DOES matter,otherwise Pickup companies wouldn’t make a variation of “Floyd Spaced” it’s physics and the pickup is a microphone for the string to vibrate over.

Great review! Do you have any experience with the Dimarzio X2N by any chance? I've been thinking about going for the Dyad as a replacement pickup but your review made me pause as your description of the tone and feel along with output sort of seems similar to how I would describe the X2N. If you know, are they in the same sonic ballpark? Thanks!
@IbanezGuy888 ай бұрын
I've had an X2N installed on a RG550 for over 10 years now haha. I would say it's similar but, the difference would be in the compression and the X2N doesn't have that top sizzle to it.

This pickup is clearly not made for standard tuning .brandon tunes to C standard , that's why this pickup has plenty of highs.
@IbanezGuy888 ай бұрын
Yep, that's what the Jackson in this video is tuned to haha. Also the reason he recommends flipping it for standard tuning, and brighter guitars. 👍

Hi, first of all, very good demo and tone. New sub here. I'm not used to videos showing how the electronics are, I think it's a very positive point for your video. I too have the Dyad and have had it for like a week now. I'm mostly used to ceramic actives and I found Brandon's concept very interesting in terms of studio recording and not having that overcompression and achieving more clarity and cleanliness. What struck me the most when I picked it up is that the notes sound very defined and it seems to throw them in your face 🤣. I just sent an email to SD to see what they have to match the neck 🤘🤘
@IbanezGuy888 ай бұрын
Appreciate it man! I forgot to mention with it being such a defined pickup, it WILL reflect any improper technique or mistakes made😭so your chops have to be superb haha.

Is it a very sharp, ice picky pickup? How does it compare to the active ones? I want to buy a singing lead pickup for a Mayones Regius, since TKOs are very sharp.@solarfallmori
@solarfallmori7 ай бұрын
@@incitatus634 yes, it’s very sharp, so having the mix in mind, it’s a very good idea playing in low tunings. I mainly use 81s, but this one has a lot of clarity, and I want to use it for recording solos and having some good dinamics too for some riffing and having that clarity among the chaos 🤣
@admireinspireАй бұрын
Damn I didn't think I'd like it but I really do. My ibanez came with the fishmann fluence so idt I can just pop one of these in but considering it for my old one.
@IbanezGuy88Ай бұрын
That's an interesting one. Technically, you can have a guitar with a passive and active humbucker but it's tricky. One problem relies with active pu's usually using 25k pots and passives with 500k. Also the fact that if you try to use both pickups in the center position in a 3 way blade/toggle, most cases the active pu will overpower the passive output. There's potential to wire them independently with their own volume knob, but you sacrifice the tone knob unless you drill a new hole for 3 pots. I believe Seymour Duncan has an awesome article in regards to this topic as well.

What would be the closest sounding Dimarzio pickup to the Dyad or regular Parallel Axis ?
@Tinylittledancer8145 ай бұрын
I'm curious about installing this in a HSS strat or one of the regular parallel axis distortions. Do you know if the electronics (volume/tone pots) on a strat would be able to handle this?
@IbanezGuy885 ай бұрын
It should be fine. Generally, it's the difference in the 250k and 500k pots. HSS with 500k would make the single coils a little brighter, but if you want them a little darker in tone, you can pop a 500k resistor on that bad boy. I also think Suhr has something that allows you to switch between 500k and 250k.
