Most Fenders you want to reverse the SD black and green wire due to most Fender pickups are reversed polarity and SD’s are not. Maybe yours were not the case, but If someone installs along side Fender pickups and the new pickup sounds a bit weak or muddy this may be the reason. Black to ground, green to switch for most Fenders is what SD suggests. Cheers.

Hello I'm just about to install this. Is there anywhere I can read this wiring diagram to verify? Thank you

Its very difficult to see exactly what you’re doing when it comes to the soldering parts. It really needed some macro shots or illustration. Also what was that blue tool you were using when cleaning up the solder before u installed the pickup?

@@alvindeleon and here I am trying so hard not to scratch my fender? I guess I should just play it and not worry about it. I like to even wash my hands before I play so my strings dont go flat too fast. When I got it used it was like new except it had a big chip out of it on the end by the strap button that I dont mind because I cannot see it. Im sure its going to get lots of scratches. I bet you dont worry about scratching yours. I wonder now if when fender makes a boo boo while painting or they dent the guitar after it falls over they say "welp we gonna need to relic this baby now!" "Oh sure get out the sand paper and chains and whips." =)

@@shartne yes they actually scratch it and everything. This is not mine btw. The guitar is a tool to make music, it doesn't need to look perfect, glossy and all to make a good sound. But for me it sure looks nice if well taken cared of. 🤘🏼

@@alvindeleonhey Alvin how you doing? Well I put it in and everything went well until I tried it and my high E string plays until I fret it. I switched the wires like they said on the back of the diagram but I put the green wire with the silver wire on the switch. I think that silver wire is only for ground even though they said to switch the green and silver, before it was grounded on the pot and now the green is going to hot lead. What do you think? I'm going to guitar center to get another set of strings and remove the silver wire. I hope it isn't something else. Thanks for your help.

did it sound good? any problems with phase issues..??? was thinking about this pickup on my strat
@alvindeleon5 жыл бұрын
Hi mont, in all honesty. It's like having a new guitar. I always use my ear as I guide if the pickups work together and I can say it sounds really good. I did adjust the height to get the balanced output since its a mini hum. The old custom pick up was ok, but we just jam with the guitar for hours after the installation.

I place this pick up as the diagram says and it was out of phase. Just inverse the black wire for the green and it’s fixed!

@@alvindeleonhi Alvin Doug again. One question, why did they put that other way of hooking this up from yours saying to do it the other way if you have fender pickups because I'm not getting the sound I want and it looks like I'm going to have to do it the way you did it after all. I hope I haven't been a pest, just questions I don't know who to ask. Thanks bro. Peace 🕊️

Is there a guide on how to adjust the pickup height. This is my only concern about this mod. Not a guitar expert.
@alvindeleon4 жыл бұрын
Hi Eric, I learned and still learning through experience and my guide are my ears when adjusting the height of the pickups, I go for a balanced sound or preference. Example If I want more volume on the high strings I put it up a bit more than for the bass strings, usually its not flat straight with the Fenders. And it all depends on the pickups or the magnets. Sometimes I can go straight. For me really the best judge or guide are my ears. Have a great day \m/

Any idea how someone could install a mini toggle switch to split the coils?
@josemariatrueba4568 Жыл бұрын
Splitting is easy using Tone2 for that purpose. I got variable splitting, from single with Tone2 fully counterclockwise (shorting to ground one of the Lil59 pickups) to humbucker with Tone2 fully clockwise at 9. Setting Tone2 CCW makes it sound very much the same as the original Fender single coil. Setting in between both sides gives nice different sounds, when selector is set at position number 1. Selector at position two uses middle pickup and also turns Little 59 into single by shorting the same pickup. Tone1 controls the tone of all 5 positions. Very easy, simpky using the existing pots!
