Can you tell me, why sometimes it says made in the USA and sometimes made in America?
@JohnnyJimsAZ2 ай бұрын
That’s a good question. Most if not all items made in the US will state “Made In The USA”. Made in America is a red flag as that is not a common statement. And is that N. America or S America? China copies do this all the time. Jim

I'm late to the party here, but the worst part is people installing these in guitars and selling them off as "SD pups installed" when they are fake. This is where it gets ugly...

I have seen really bad Chinese pick ups and I have seen some relatively good ones as well. Sometimes they’re easy to see and other times, you have to really give it a good look. I am getting ready to replace a China pick up off of my China guitar with a Dimarzio $100 pick up to see if there’s any sound difference. 🐀

@rattyguitars Жыл бұрын
I have a feeling they would’ve sounded just fine. On my other channel JD, Custom Guitars I tested not only Chinese and USA pick ups are Korean ones as well. Sound wise they all faired out pretty well. Although the Korean pick ups had better construction.

@@buddhapoo the problem is it can be hit and miss when it comes to China. I just finished an extensive review of China Qatar bridges that are powder coated. I am advising my viewers not to purchase these type of bridges from China as they give grounding issues. If you want, subscribe, and I’ll have the video up in a couple of days.

I agree that there shouldn't be a "Seymour Duncan" on the front of the pickup but the color of the backing plate or the roundness of the mounting tabs or the two holes on the front being on the "wrong" side have no effect whatsoever with the sound they produce. Let's hear a blind test to see if the SDs are worth the extra $150. Just like the name brand guitar makers overprice their products we can expect the component makers to jump on the overpriced bandwagon as well. The proof is in the playing.

Kids are great and there are several companies to choose from. I am just pointing out how China can get away with copyright violations and build a guitar. That is an insult to a fender or even a kit like the one. I’m gonna be ordering here soon.

With regards to the font. I had a JB already I bought another one for my other guitar from a well known German music shop and the font is just like the fake you have here. Everything else is like the genuine you have here

As far as one being slightly longer than the other is that he's comparing a bridge pickup to a neck pickup. The bridge pickup will always be slightly longer and the posts slightly further apart. The biggest tell of which is fake is the brass base. Seymour Duncan uses nickel silver.

I still can't understand why SD, given the fact they've got their name on the front of the bobbin, still has that awful looking square hole in one end. Dimarzio don't have it. And I've got an old Schaller 2in1 that doesn't have ANY holes in the front. Bizarre.
@rattyguitars2 жыл бұрын
I noticed that too. You can even see the copper wiring through the two holes on top. It was like that on the fake one as well but they had it backwards. To me it’s not a very clean look. But I do love their sound.
