There was a hidden change where Bison can now do forward + taunt while a mine is on the opponent to get access to a powered up mode similar to the secret with Akuma. Afaik the only things you get are a new psycho crusher super (double qcb + p) and teleports (forward or backward + all 3 punches or kicks). Also like Akuma, you aren't doing this unless the opponent falls asleep lol

I think that solo main Bison wasn't that great but he was a very popular, simple, and effective pocket character. He also has the Honda effect of being very dominant at lower levels of play. I probably would have come for Scissors tbh but I don't think that he's going anywhere.

God damn, 34 seconds ago. I'm never this early. Great vids, man. Your Akuma guide taught me 99% of my gameplay with him, I'm sure your Mai guide is gonna be a godsend when I pick her up too.

Feels like I haven't successfully gotten any pressure from Devil's Reverse since the change, so I don't really know what the point of it is anymore. Only thing that seems feasible is a close range EX headstomp while you have the opponent afraid to hit buttons.

The sweep change it huge in the gief MU, cuz gief's cr mk can whiff if he blocks bisons sweep max range. now gief just counter sweeps to punish.

I appreciate the devs allowing Bison to keep his huge damage when he expends a ton of resources or gets a dp punish, the ex scissor and ex psycho crusher changes seem to matter a lot more during random stray hits so he can't kill you as reliably of those, but his punish damage is still in line with everyone else.

I like the consistency nerfs for checking Bison's devil's reverse. Plus he still has stomp follow-up if he still wants to hard bait. Overall, looks more like a quality-of-life adjustment rather than a nerf-list.

@aadaaadasda9979Ай бұрын
@sonicphoenix7 yeah, i get it, it's easier to make one move have an asinine hurtbox than to fix super in question, but imo what you refer to is said supers having a bad hitbox/ window/etc. problem, not a devil reverse problem. they definitely could've nerfed it without making anti-airs on it look this stupid.

I don't get why the devs keep fucking up Devil reverse for being what it is. They did the same in 5. It would be nice if they gave in exchange for those hideous hurtboxes projectile invincibility and throw invincibility to ex rise like he had in 5.

Bison was good for different reasons than the "so well rounded they might as well be circular" kits that run the meta otherwise. naturally, he had to be punished for daring to play a different way. Also this is probably a change for non-top level online warriors, Bison is kind of honda-esque in some ways, and the feedback on him from players that aren't as strong was probably pretty harsh.

You didn't think Bison was as dominant as Ed or Rashid? Maybe not in tournaments bc he's so volatile but in ranked he's a demon
@JanusIIVАй бұрын
He's not actually very volatile, because his playstyle doesn't require him or the opponent to take big risks. But random people in ranked are just less likely to recognize when Bison is most vulnerable and beat his ass to death. And since people in ranked take big risks on their own...
@acydrayn73Ай бұрын
@@JanusIIVI wouldn't tie volatility just to risk, he was prone to two-touch scenarios off of a mixup after all. That is a level of explosiveness that we haven't seen many times in this game's lifespan, the only other notable instance of something like that was Blanka's old jump back ex divekick throw bait. Whether that *should* be in the game is one question the community could debate over forever, but it's pretty clear that whenever it happens, it spikes the character's usage, and Capcom feels as though they need to step in. Having weaknesses also doesn't have to push the character out of a dominant spot, Ed's reversal options are all quite slow, and both he and bison were cooking it up at high levels of play despite their shared lackluster ability to escape offensive blenders.

Balancing around rank isn't ever a great idea
@acydrayn73Ай бұрын
@HMNNO I don't think it is either, but it's hard to imagine that it played no factor at all, if bison were to drive away the average joe, that drives away the funds too. I would posit the hesitance to make significant buffs to characters like Lily, Sim, or Manon comes from here too.
@HMNNOАй бұрын
@acydrayn73 Capcom tried balancing around rank statistics in the first 2 years of SFV. It was horribly balanced and because almost no one in rank use their character in the top of their limits so the data isn't all there. After season 3 it got a lot better because they factor in tournament statistics and balancing got a lot better
@gutzamaАй бұрын
Solo bison maining and dropping ed for a little bit. The different playstyle was interesting but i feel like the overall nerfs were kinda too hard from the jump. I will accept the bomb explosion damage getting nerfed, stomp bigger hitbox. But why the nerf scaling to ex kicks & the bomb base damage? That seemed like a little too much.
