As a Gief player I appreciate watchign SnakeEyez even while he was in SFV holding it down with Itazan as Giefs but boy are some match ups tough. If I see a JP or Dhalsim pop up on the screen I'm simply screwed.

@@dorkasaurus_rex Oh for sure the best Zangief players *can* beat JPs and Dhalsims, I’m speaking from my experience and also a chart was recently posted on the SF6 subreddit and the 2 worst matchups for Gief are in fact JPs and Dhals. Most of us will never be at that level of SE or Itazan but we’ll get lucky here and there.

@@touvxi5 shotos hurtboxes always extend really far when they’re in their fireball release animation unlike someone like Guile. Giefs standing mp has always been known to have good priority. Just seems they cranked it up on both sides for this game 😆

The game is still fairly new, people don’t know optimal routes yet so characters like gief seem stronger than they are. People gave Potemkin way too much credit when ggst came out now he’s considered one of the worst characters at a top level.

@@wiredel5384 Using Tourneys is equally not as useful for some characters because 9 times out of 10 it's only going to be top tier characters in it. Pot is a decent character that has some tools that helps him and he's certainly better than a few characters.

Snake Eyez the most Legendary Zangief of ALL time and one of the World's best Potemkins always fascinates me very few players have his level of style, strategy and execution on grapplers! I always look back on his style to learn the style of Pro level tanks and of Course Zangief himself Zangief plays a lot like a Pro level tank!

It's better for you to practice parrying and read well your opponents than looking for characters that at a disadvantage against Gief cause you probably won't go against them in a serious match. Gief only looks good on at the hands of a skilled player.
