Hi Amit, very nicely explained, does permission set over ride the validation rule for the field access? If there is avalidation rule on opportunity no user can edit closed opportunity record except Administrator. Can we over ride the validation rule for particular field for a particular user by using assign permission set? Thanks in advance.

Not possible.. permission set is not for overriding the validation rules. You might wanted to check custom permission in Salesforce

No. It's not necessary to have the object level access.
