I can't listen to Chuck talking about the joy of owning your own home without thinking about the joy of a homestead that decides to poop out a chimney on you.

This is the episode that teaches you something about TV laws/rules/compensation contracts. We get some of Jadzia's (Terry Farrell's) voice clips, and the wedding picture with her in it, but no video imagery. Then, in "What You Leave Behind" when we get Worf's farewell montage with Ezri (which is all flashback video clips), we get plenty from Season 7 with her (and some from earlier years of him alone), but again nothing with Jadzia.

I could give two shits what anyone else says, "What We Left Behind" is far and away the best series finale in the entire franchise. It beats the shit outta "All Good Things..." and I won't even mention "Endgame." "These Are The Voyages" isn't even canon as far as I'm concerned.
@Grayvorn10 сағат бұрын
It is easily the most epic too.

What We Left Behind, unlike its contemporaries, at least actually feels like a finale.

I always thought the series deserved more than one episode to wrap up. I'd have really liked to see the Federation gear down from war. Trade in their phaser rifles for tricorders. Install holodecks on all those Galaxy Class ships they pumped out during the war. And see our main characters move on throughout all this.
@noblehelium37942 сағат бұрын
@@TALCOLMINTHEMIDDLE You can't have a full episode finale (or more) that is just coda, because you can't expect the audience to sit down just for that. It could be part of an episode and really there is actually a mid-episode coda in the finale, before the second climax that is the confrontation in the fire caves. Let's not forget that the finale is already a double-length episode.

Regarding Sisko and buying land: The Federation doesn't use money _internally_ but they still use it in business with some of their member races that still use money, and with non-member races. Because doing otherwise would be stealing.

The Pah Wraiths were such a missed opportunity for DS9. But hey, ar least Worf got beaten up again and also successfully hunted; you know, the classics
@jamesabernethy78967 сағат бұрын
I think the Pah Wraiths could have been used a little more but I would worry that they would overuse them. Maybe not the best way to present things but constant possessions or magical happenings would almost feel like it was something that they could do at will rather than having it be a meaningful exercise or that it might have consequences for them.

Final chapter arc lets goooooo. I remember being hyped for these reviews when they initially were released as at the time, Chuck had already done the TNG, VOY and ENT finales. Penumbra itself I feel is the weakest of the arc though because it feels like a setup episode and is poorly handling the Ezri/Worf dynamic.

Wasn't there a big thing about how hosted Trill shouldn't get back into relationships with the spouses etc of past hosts? And here's Ezri, hooking up with her own widowed husband.

I love how just ~25ish years later, the static routine already makes little sense. digital signals cut out differently than analogue, and she'd've been better served by randomly cutting in and out her voice.

Worf was right to hunt. Ezri was kinda dumb, I love her but she can be dense...

I mean it's not every day you wake up from a surgery and find that you now have a bunch of old memories and exes that you have to work alongside. It's important to remember that Ezri is a trained counselor, but was not trained for joining.

Damn those Breen for using the stun setting. So, if they had not... After the war is over, they find their bodies. Star trek NEMESIS had Worf alive for reasons that ARE obvious...yes, all the movies after Generations were Picard's Nexus fantasies. He never left. So how Did Worf survive Generations then? He did not. He's A CLONE. Losing the D with all hands was too embarrassing, so Section 31 cloned the crew.
@welker8317 сағат бұрын
Shouldn’t Ezri have Jadzia’s memories with the Trill Symbiote? The dramatic tension in the campfire scene seems off because if Worf is feeling bad, Ezri should know exactly the right thing to say.

Was Sisko not listening when the Wormhole Aliens(tm) told him that he couldn't live on Bajor? I know they were kinda vague, but if it were me, I would be thinking about the things that the gods said to me quite a bit. Ah well. Setting yourself for failure, how sad!

Ah, Season 7 of DS9 when they ran out of ideas...no wait, the season when they lost their focus. Actually that was already showing mid season 6 after Sacrifice of Angels, qualitywise things were more mixed. The Pah-wraiths/Prophets War wasn't set up all that much, there was an episode in season 5 (The Assignment), and then the Reckoning and Tears of the prophet. So that stuff almost came out of nowhere, and then they said that's the most important thing now and our real final boss. Meanwhile the far bigger dominion War was more interesting and delivered the high points of season 7, like The Siege of AR-558, or Treachery, Faith, and the Great River or the dominion war part of the long final arc of season 7. They should have resolved the religious plotline before the dominion war, since it really felt minor.

The worst part of the first episode(s) of the final arc is all the wasted time with Ezri and Worf. Like extremely annoying teenage-drama in the face of space-shattering events. DS9 should be better than that.
