Nice to fly on China Southern to Wuhan. Never seen they fly to Wuhan instead of Guangzhou. Nice seat with a engine view Jacob. Yummy chinese meals in-flight. Never mind the closed lounge you saved room for meals in-flight. Airport in SFO the food looks yummy.

They fly to Wuhan just to make sure they don't get too bad of competition from flights from HKG. Plus Wuhan is an important Chinese Industrial City and one of CZ's hubs

Hi S. It looks like you had a good flight. That is nice you did not have a seat partner. Privacy is really nice to have on the long-haul flights. Yes, I love the 777'2.. I miss having and seeing the 747-400's. For me you have to have a big aircraft for that long-haul flight. I need to see the big aircraft that are powerful to fly...Having flown so many years in our 747-400's, 777's and 767-200/300's I got so spoiled on all those flights. I like lots of aircraft space to sit and lay down on the long haul trip. Yes, again, I have worked those flights and I am spoiled when I have flown those routes...Well, Happy Thanksgiving to you...Please continue to fly safe.... God Speed back home to the US...

haha, maybe. I say that, because just about every landing you have had, has been as smooth as silk and most of the time with UAL. Glad you had a great trip, that 777-300ER is one amazing airplane. Glad United has them now.

Had the chance to fly to Wuhan a few months ago. Traffic in the city seemed to be just as hectic as other major cities as Shanghai & Beijing. China Southern does seem to have quite a solid business class product !

Félix Maltchinski No Air China does not give you any hotel accommodation although I am star gold, and travel their international business class. They rather let me stay at airport for 18 hours. Hotel accommodation is an official policy on China southern website, I believe if you stay more than 8 hours they will give you one.

meazoh1 It was perfectly fine. I flew through Guangzhou from SFO to Kathmandu, and not through Wuhan. However, China Southern was perfectly fine, and Business Class IS worth it because the flight is SO long. The service was good (the food was actually QUITE good) and I had a very sweet and polite flight attendant. The Guangzhou-Kathmandu flights were also fine, and because those were also on China Southern (and were MUCH shorter legs), I didn’t have to worry about dealing with luggage on the ground in Guangzhou. The Business Class on those shorter legs was like US domestic business or first class, and was perfectly adequate. I flew this 777 to Guangzhou from SFO and back again, and then A320 ‘s in between Guangzhou and Kathmandu. Overall, I do recommend China Southern (and the price for the flights was reasonable) and I would fly them again.

sfflyer123 is same as Star Alliance System, you don’t have to be Gold Status, as long as you Board business class, you can access! In SFO , there is AIR FRANCE LOUNGE, CHINA AIRLINE lounge..... Gold card is for people who flies Economy class, while you can still bring one additional guest to lounge.

sfflyer123 Normally Chinese Carrier do not offer, actually not only Chinese. That is why I am saying LOUNGE REFERENCE is a way to judge an airline. In HONGKONG airport, or Bangkok, where there are multiple airlines. 5 star airline, like ANA always recommend their customers to use SQ Lounge... in comparison, carriers like AIR CHINA, AIR INDIA, always sent their customers to contract lounge...... Even worse, they do not bother to tell you that J cabin passenger can access SQ lounge for free....

No, they did not tell me. The flight was at 2pm, and the lounge closed at 12:30. I checked in at 12:20, so they said, "too late".

We could hang out in the back with the schmucks and when the pilot and FO want some time for a nap or just some time away from the great view out front, they could call one of us up to log an hour or so when the plane is flying itself.

First no more 747. Now soon no more A380? What an absolute outrage! I’m totally striking out on a quest to fly the plane of my dreams. I’m glad the 777 can handle flying with 2 engines. Besides, 777 engines are huge compared to the 4 engines on the 747. Engines twice the size could put up as much power as a 4 engine plane. Around 2020 the 3 airlines, American Airlines, Allegiant Air, and Delta are retiring there MD-80 series planes. I’m going to miss those planes too. Those Pratt and Whitney JT8D engines made an amazing loud hum at takeoff. Allegiant Air will have no more MD-80s at the end of 2018. American Airlines will retire them in 2019. And Delta in 2020. All are being replaced by new 737-900 technology and the new Bombardier CS 1,000 series. The A350 looks like a great replacement for the 747. Looks like an airbus version of the 787 Dreamliner.

Flew China Southern last year in business class. The aircraft landing gear was damaged during pushback and all passengers were left in the LAX overnight without hotel accommodation, and worse were advised to stay at the airport for latest flight change. Worst customer service ever. Their business class costs almost 1/2 of other airlines but you get what you pay for.
