That’s cruel. My mum did the same. She told me “a 12 year old boy” that my kitten had run away and after 3 days of frantic searching of the neighbourhood, she decided to tell me that it had been run over by a car and my step dad found the body. I found the truth out years later, she actually had my step father take it to the pound because she hated it. She still doesn’t know that I know!

In 2012, a friend and i flew from QLD to Perth, purchased a car for $530 and drove it home (cheaper that a hire car), it had a CD player and a CD in it, it was Triple J's hotest 100 2001 and this banger featured. Yeah it's my introvert theme song today!! The whole smiling to himself with the world falling apart around him is a very relatable introvert thing, and it works in reverse like having an internal apocalypse while extroverts are laughing and singing. Fascinating. Ohhhh I just realised this scene is like the book Stranger in a Strange Land by Robert Heinlein (which Dr Manhattan from Watchmen was clearly influenced by, in my view). Like I can see why people think introverts have a superiority complex, and the ingredients are definitely there, but it's because we're trying to hold ourselves together amidst the storm. There’s a common misconception that Something For Kate lead singer, Paul Dempsey, was an Easter Island statue who never smiled.
