This took me 2-3 days. I was learning how to use it :P (Still am...)
It's not EXACTLY the same, I wanted to improve some parts and remove some "too awkard" parts.

SFM is such a great tool, and there's been so many good things to come out of it, but I think vicious cycles have, and always be better as GMod films. It just feels better that way.

The great thing about Gmod is that you can make the bodies shake insanely to make it look more frantic and crazy.

This is really really good, and I don't know much about SFM, but a few things to make this better: The blood. It is missing. Make the scout have an actual Force of Nature, it's the reason the heavy goes flying. Soldier didn't step off the bridge. The interaction with the sniper was the sniper warning him not to come any closer.

It's the jerky, silly motions that make gmod films so good. Sometimes, flailing arms are a lot more entertaining that straight-up walking.

This is a great remake really. I like it alot. However, I feel that the jittery and stop motion-ness of Gmod is what made the original so great.

I think why people say GMOD is better is that, in this video there are some missing animations from the one in GMOD and yes both are nice, this could get more improved and get more similar than the one in GMOD, keep up the good work :).

Guessn' you only saw this sfm on the whole KZbin, cuz if you haven't then you'd know that in this video there was some "magic" cuz there were some fast shit and some glitchy and stop motion, so this thing my sir is one of the best(one as in there are others) sfm remakes on KZbin

I've never been on a 2fort map where Sniper's shoot players crossing the bridge, the snipers only just try and snipe the snipers on the other side of the map trying to snipe them.

Because it's made smooth... if you complain about that it's not SFM fault but the one who made this video. There 2 mistakes made in this video : 1. Iot of animation been made by game recording insted of manual animation 2. after game recording the defualt animations didn't been enrised, thats why characters don't stand still SFM allows you to create spiky animation frames if you want to, in fact it got tool specially for that.

I would say so, due to the lack of facial posing and no excessive explosions and blood. But, it is possible to recreate those things in SFM, but it takes a little more work. So I would say this is a step to a perfect recreation

1. 0:13 The Soldier is supposed to be on the last floorboard of the bridge. He is also supposed to take a step. 2. 0:17 The blood is missing 3. 0:20 The Spy is not made of knives 4. 0:23 The Spy's head is still on his body, and there is no blood 5. 0:27 The heavy is supposed to slide down the stairs with lots of blood 6. 0:32 The Medic is supposed to have glasses 7. The Scout's weapon is supposed to be the FaN, not the Stock Scattergun 8. 0:40 The Scout's weapon is absent from the frame.

Here is my opinion about SFM in a nutshell; it's a powerful video making tool that certainly will compete with GMod. I don't believe it will replace GMod completely though, because of the unique cartoony aspects of the stop action. People will use SFM, on the other hand, to make videos specifically with a more motion-picture like feel.

I think rather what you mean is that your "typical" view is best simulated in GMOD and the more dramatic style is better done in SFM, yes? If that's what you mean, I agree there. But I think both can be equally great as long as it's done right.

Both of those things are absolutely possible in SFM. Though the limb flailing might take a bit more effort, I'm not sure if you can ragdoll individual limbs in SFM.

I love the spy ass-stab, it looks more painful when you can actually watch it in motion. I love the soldier's rage at the end, it's much better. You're missing a few things the original had, other than the jerky animation: * when sniper's gun shoots off his head, there's no real feedback. The original had a blood trail. Surely you can add a particle effect with SFM? * when spy runs up to the engineer nest, his model was replaced with a headcrab. * The spy saps the sentry's crotch.

This goes to show that you can't take the little things that make gmod what it is away with SFM because you lose out on major factors. Although this moves more smoothly, it's slow and doesn't work nearly as well. The instant, jerky motions are what made the original funny.

but things like the jitter are (slightly) easier to do in GMod. SFM CAN technically do everything a GMod video can do, but it's harder to do in GMod, because SFM was designed for smooth movement, and cant simulate the random movements (like when you freeze a body in the air, then attach thrusters to all the limbs) as well.

No, the reason most people think that GMod will never die is not because of the faces you can make, it's just because of the awkwardness you can't make with SFM, because SFM just can't recreate the jerkiness of GMod that makes the animations so fun, with SFM you awlays get a smooth looking animation or one that looks like shit, GMod has a type that fits inbetween those two.

That solves a bit of a dilemma for me, I got into Garrys mod only a few months ago, and while I don't have anything serious against Source Film Maker, I couldn't help but think "Damn, I was just starting to get good at using this, but now that SFM is coming out for free, I'll be trolled six ways to Sunday just because I use Gmod, even if it's just for fun"

The problem with this video is that the animation is TO smooth. It actually makes it feel a LOT longer than the Gmod version, even though the video is actually shorter. Source Film Maker is a GREAT tool, but Gmod will always be the king of random shit.

I'm inclined to agree with you except for a few things. 1: Gmod requires stop motion or recording with fraps/other software for smooth scenes. This gives it an incredibly spazzy, amusing and fast paced look since it's not smooth. SFM is almost always smooth. Plus, SFM was never really made to make animations the same way Rubberfruit and Tig3r42 since it's a full professional use program, not a toy like Gmod. Granted, SFM videos are still cool :)

The reason the video feels longer, I think, is that the smooth animation makes fast scenes (Spy) faster, but slow scenes (Heavy & Medic) slower, but the abundance of faster scenes makes the SFM version shorter overall.
