To paraphrase Walt Disney, “Source Filmmaker will never be completed. It will continue to grow as long as there is new content left in the world.” And who will provide that new content? The Users! Tron once fought for the Users, and in a way, he is Alan's NetNavi.

well the good news is that you can transfer models from sfm to s2fm. Bad news is that S2FM uses vmdl files instead of mdl files. S2fm automatically converts usable files into vmdl, but mdl is not one of those files. Meaning you gotta port each and every one individually.

I just hope I can hop on to the S2FM bandwagon (Once I have models of my OCs ported to there) as this thing looks promising, especially since HL:A is a VR-only game in which I am more into VR than flat-screen gaming, tbh.

if you ask me, it's about equal, I get immersed in games pretty easily, so the fact that it's VR or not really doesn't bother me I also don't have a VR headset of my own, but i have tried someone else's, and it was great, but for now it seems like a expensive novelty.

SFM2 would be superior if it had the same amount of assets available that SFM1 does. While the program itself is obviously so much better, the limited assets is a bummer. IMO if you want to learn something superior to SFM then just choose something like UE5 instead.

"The exception implies the rule." is the phrase, and the legal principle. It is the principle that says making a specific exception for something being X way under certain circumstances _implies_ that it is NOT that way under other circumstances. For example, if a sign says "No parking Mondays-Thursdays," that _implies_ that parking there is OK on Friday. And if I were to get a ticket, I would fight it based on that principle, that the exception implied the rule (even if it wasn't logically necessitated, the context of the road sign is assumed to be that it includes all the relevant info).

God, as someone who constantly uses newer programs, the concept of ONLY having spotlights is insane. I can’t even imagine how they released it in that state. Surely SOMEBODY would’ve noticed how using spotlights for everything is absolutely terrible in every way?? Also, note that, in Source 2, you can get lighting from the environment similarly to the “HDRI Lighting” you described with Blender. No more fill lights required, although if you want them then they’re there for you. I say this because it kind of hurt me to see someone use point lights for ambient lighting in source 2...

I have a bit of a different perspective of SFM, S2FM, and 3D Software such as Blender, Maya, C4D, etc. I had a bit of fun in SFM a few years ago and messed around with being in tf2 maps and random models from the workshop, never really made anything to save but it was fun. During that time was my first try with Blender in it's 2.7 days with how unfriendly and confusing it looked, (barely could even do half of the old donut tutorial) so I then dropped Blender at the time. 2-3 years later I picked it up again after being inspired and motivated to do my own stuff and learn more but that went down hill.As I grew more used to SFM I eventually just didn't like using the tools and navigation and quickly got bored and unmotivated to use it trying to make some sort of posters but I just didn't feel like it was my own truly original idea. So I dropped SFM for a few months (around march 2020) and in mid summer 2020 I tried out a bit of Blender through some tutorials on it's rather good looking GUI and the Blender Foundation Tutorials that helped greatly with using Blender 2.83 and ever since with a little over a year of using Blender for making posters, messing with textures, and learning more about the program I learned more about it and enjoyed using it over SFM and S2FM. The biggest Pro's to blender is that well simply put, you can download it for free and get going with a tutorial or explore it on your own! Along with file sizes luckily Blender alone is about 400 mb (could be wrong as updates happen) and files can be relatively small for simple scenes. Along with good file sizes the open source nature of Blender allows more freedom for file types to import or export so various source files can be put into Blender with the proper know how. IMO Blender is the better free 3D software compared to both SFM and S2FM for those looking for a good point to learn a 3D program that many talented artists use to make some fantastic animated movie, artwork, and fantastic visual effects even! :D
