As of today many steam locomotives was saved from scrap, some steam locomotives are on display in museums and some steam locomotives are operating on excursions and tourist railroads even though there’s a tons of steam locomotives that were scrapped and never been saved

Not to mention there are still _new_ steam locomotives being built, just in a smaller gauge. 7.5" gauge is an increasingly popular (though still very niche) gauge for miniature hobby railroads, and "live steam" locomotives are the most sought-after locomotives for miniature hobby railroads.

In 1950, there were about 47,000 steam locomotives in this country, now today, there are roughly about 2,000

@@vincentberkan605 Does that include or exclude sub-narrow gauge equipment? Because steam's still thriving on 7.5" due to hobbyists.
@vincentberkan6053 жыл бұрын
I don't think so. According to steam locomotive information www.steamlocomotive.info/unitedstates.cfm
@VestedUTuber3 жыл бұрын
@@vincentberkan605 Yeah, it's definitely not taking sub-narrow gauge equipment into account. That would honestly _massively_ increase the numbers, there's probably more 7.5" and 7.25" gauge steam locomotives out there than there were standard gauge ones at the height of steam power at this point.

The Video Looks Great, i think it is Based on The Events of the Early '60s when UK Started withdrawal of the Steam Locos with Class 55s, 37s and Further More. But Electric Traction was Involved too, Because While Steam Engines Were Being Displaced by Diesel Locomotives, Electric Engines were Taking Advantage of it, while not Only Helping Displace Steam Locomotives on Electrified Lines, But Also Made Themselfs More Profitable, as they were Faster in Terms Of Both Speed and Acceleration.

In fact the Dutch were so good at scrapping their steam engines, that they were not only rid of steam come 1959, all the remaining Dutch mainline steam locomotives are in the care of the Spoorweg Museum, Utrecht. All eight of them. There are more Bulleid Light Pacifics preserved than the total number of preserved Dutch mainline steam engines over each class. You'd struggle to find a country that was better at scrapping their steam engines than the Netherlands.

final steam run, I may be of the Diesel Multiple Unit Days, but there is just something about seeing steam engines running for the last revenue earning time, and you even have engines made JUST for preservation(9F no 92000 Evening Star), some went to Barry in Wales and other places, but many came into hands of preservationists either directly or from the scrapyard, but those which they replaced soon found their time had came, the diesel-electrics became the standard on railways, the class 40s and such which once got rid of Steam, now survive either in the hands of people like Colas Rail services, but many are no longer in revenue earning service, steam even gets new builds(Tornado, Prince of Wales among others) on the way.... I really should not be this emotional, who knows, we may see long dead diesel units getting the same treatment(we already have a new LMS 1000 on the way)
