He was playing reactive on purpose. He doesn't take online seriously, he said so himself, he plays online for trying new strategies.

Have to be defensive against tokido. Especially against his ground game where he picks you off with little jab into a roundhouse into uppercut. He does these things that require precision and lands them 99% of the time. I tried it and can only land it 1% so I gave up.

This match up would have been something if Ryu was not nerfed the way he was. Before I even started the video I already knew who won. Akumas normals extend further than Ryu's, which was showcased very well in this match. Daigo kept trying to find answers to play footsies with Tokido but due to Ryu's nerfs and stubby normals, the inevitable happened.

If it's already common knowledge that Ryu was needed to hell, why is everyone giving Daigo crap for losing? If both players are around the same skill level, the better character will win every time. That's doubly true for a Ryu vs Akuma match up, especially since Akuma has always been good.

It seems like Tokido has to put in so much more work to deal real damage, everytime Daigo managed to catch a whiff, he got a significant life lead, not so rewarding for tokido with the cr.mk to catch Daigo's whiffs.

I've played all Street Fighter games and yes,they did slow this one down. It's not as bad as you think. They slowed it down to hype the climactic moments but it's still fast enough to leave a competitive arena. It's a better game overall

If only they'd chosen a proper stage instead of the boring ass Training Stage. This match felt like it was about both characters just as much as it was about both players. I think Daigo could've been more aggressive. Letting Tokido get comfortable led him to losing.

This is super late, and I'm not too sure of the actual reasoning myself. But, I'll give you my personal thoughts on the matter. A) The DP nerf: This nerf hit everyone who had an invincible DP, he happened to be a part of that. Main problem was people could disrespect your pressure into CA for 40-50% like nothing. B) S1, Ryu was a god among men. His normals were super good and safe. He has his Hadouken, had an invincible DP, projectile invul move, super fast dash and decent walk speed, great damage. To be frank, as an "All-Around." character, he excelled far too much in everything compared to the others of his playstyle.

The reason people call him beast is because his contribution to the fighting game esports. He inspire many young people to play. He is the story that represent young talent. That has nothing to do with his skill. He is 34 right now. To be honest, 34 is very old age for esport. Mant talent start as young as 15. This is scientific approved that people pass age 25 start have huge decline on reflex, decision making etc. This heavily impact the esport skill. He is the icon of the game. Its not about skill. Dont you not understand? Even people doesnt play street fighter know who daigo is. This is the influence he has on other players. Whenever there is a great player, people try to put him down. Thats why young people nowaday has zero respect for old player. Because they are young and has the advantage and better mechanix. People like daigo pave the way for young blood. People need to show some respect to him. It doesnt matter who he works for. At least he shows good attitude and story to people. At least thats positive energy even to other esport.
