You've got to be the hardest working, most under-appreciated man in the FGC. Your videos have helped me so much since I started playing SF a couple years ago, you make things really easy to understand and have brought me from having no knowledge in a topic or about a particular character to understanding it well enough to improve my game, even if I can't implement a certain technique, or still struggle with certain match-ups. After I watch a video of yours, I see the game in a slightly different way that always leads to improvement. I look forward to seeing more stuff when SF5 comes out! Thanks for all the work you put in for the betterment of this community.

Good video man, a lot of players don't even know about the new mechanics. During the entire third beta phase, I literally only got hit with 1 v-reversal, it was ridiculous considering how amazing a tool it is and how many times it saved my ass. Also GGS, I played you with my 10 minute Gief, SuperGaijinx420x. You played Laura, seems like a pretty bad match up for her.

"Capcom please hire me" lol'd. They probably should, though. About your speech: I fully agree. I've been the guy who would play SFIV for a month or so and quit and then pick it up again 4 months later feeling like I was starting from scratch. But I've been putting in the work the past 6 months on IV and I was getting easy 10+ win streaks on the beta. I think my big issue with IV was generally shitty netplay and not having a local scene to hit up was really discouraging. So V seemingly having stable online is REALLY good and will make me want to continue playing. It's really hard to like a game when you feel you're losing because people are getting rewarded for doing scrubby online stuff in laggy situations that you know would never work offline. Hopefully that's not that case in V.

A few questions: I am not a good SFIV player, but I work towards getting better. At the moment I have had issues with 'going in' even when it's unsafe... Is there any advice you can give that would help me with breaking this habit, especially when moving into SFV where the engine seems to be shifting to encourage a bit more aggressive play? I dabbled a bit with SFIII, and found a love for Karin's V play style, I am not sure if this is the right place to ask this but... How much would I expect her to change going into SFV? At the moment, from what I've seen she's my first pick for a main (I am putting a lot of stock into her being the one who fits my idea of a fun character at the moment) and I am kinda trying to get an idea of what I am in for, and so far I think you're the one who I've seen do the most with SFIII.
@Bafael9 жыл бұрын
+Travis “Debz” B There's really not much I can say to someone who goes in to much and knows it without just saying "stop going in" but perhaps you could benefit from a change in character for a while? You'll get killed going in with dhalsim so if you get good with him it'll be because you've started playing a lot more slow and reactionary, and you should be able to keep that with other characters you play. Remember that too much action means 100% of the potentially interrupting things your opponent can do, e.g. jump ins, uppercuts, things you have to anticipate, are going to work. As for your second question, you seem to be implying that Karin is from SF3 but she's actually from SF alpha 3, which I have only played somewhat, and she's quite different from that iteration. To be honest I don't see her changing much between this beta and release, not only because this beta was excellent and release was soon, but also because she's quite a technical character and her tools work pretty well as is. The only thing I expect they'll change is making combos out of crush counter HK either easier or harder depending on whether they think she's too strong atm.
@PsiDebby9 жыл бұрын
Ah durr I should have mentioned who I've been playing. How my journey has been was... Started with Viper (because I liked her from MVC3) and had fun, but realized I was spazzing too much with her. Moved about for a bit, aimlessly then found Juri who was my inspiration for wanting to get good. And lately I've been dabbling with Abel a bit. I've learned a bit more to be patient, but then something goes off and I just forget all of that and go in and then usually end up losing because I am a goober. Thanks for the rundown of Karin. And I keep forgetting that SFIII and SFIII: Alpha are pretty different games... Mentally I just kind of lump them together for some reason as I do SFIV and SSFIV/Ultra.

Two questions: 1) Do target combos into v-skill (vega/necalli) build v-meter? Is it the same amount as landing it raw in neutral? 2)If you land a crush combo is the opponent throwable (like after a focus in sf4)?

they still build v meter but I'm pretty sure v meter build scales like super meter build during combos so maybe not quite as much. and opponents are fully throwable during crush counter spin stun

Hello happy Christmas, just a few notes on your video. Did you mean to say that back dashes still have invincibility? Or did you mean to say that back dashes are still airborne on some frames. Also in the most recent beta Cammy couldn't cancel in to special from chained lights. I could only perform spiral arrow from linked lights. I've been enjoying your videos and will be looking forward to see what you come up with. :)
@Bafael9 жыл бұрын
+MrAzramez No, they're still throw invincible but they've lost regular hit invincibility. They're not airborne at all from what I can tell. Also I played the most recent beta and she can still chain jabs and cancel them, unless you're talking about like one of the tournament builds.
@MrAzramez9 жыл бұрын
Thanks for clearly that up about the back dashes. In the beta 3, on each day I tried to cancel chains to links crouching jabs. My experience of using chains, was spiral arrow happening after the second cancelled jab and not as a combo which lead to block and punish. I guess It could have been my execution. Thanks for the response. :)
@Yimi979 жыл бұрын
Yo, ok, seriously, with how much Capcom is putting effort into making the game more friendly to new players (removing the execution barrier on 1-frame links, showing stun, etc.) they should hire someone like Bafael to make videos that would be advertised on the main menu. Even with the tutorial they'll put in the game, having an "advanced tutorial" section where it's just videos explaining mechanics more in-depth would be amazing. It would be something casual players could just not click on, but after someone gets their ass beat online and wants to figure out how to get better with their boy Nash, they could watch the Tips and Tricks video by Baf that'd be embedded in the main menu.

@Bafael9 жыл бұрын
+V1TOCHIN No, supers do minimum 50%. A raw super still does 100% damage, and, say, Ryu's cr. HP xx HP shoryu xx Super still gives you an 80% super. Supers can do more damage in short combos depending on the character but supers have a very high minimum damage.

I just couldn't play SFIV seriously, and this is after purchasing each version and earnestly trying to play in a tournament setting afterwards. Coming from the 'old' crowd (my main games were CvS2, Guilty Gear, and most anything prior to SF4) I hold no real malice towards the game but it just never clicked with me in many ways so I gave up. While SFV isn't everything I want it's enough of NOT SFIV for me to try again. Though I hate the fact that you can still jump into corners when someone is already there.
