I never understood why Punk felt he needed to find a new main. Karin never lost what made her so suited for his playstyle. Playing top tier is fine and all, but if your style doesn't mesh with the character it's pointless.

Agreed it is like one of the comments made in the SFV Evo grand finals where it was stated how comfortable X was and he was playing his game. If tokido could have broken through that to expose Bison's meh walk speed, bad wake up and own inability to deal with pressure beyond V-Reversal it could have been different. Perhaps of Tokido had been in winners in GF he would have taken it all but props to X. That said Bison is by no means low tier nor is he at the top of the tier list, he just has some insane strengths that can overshadow one or two flaws. EX Devil's reverse had him so stumped it was amazing.

ThatBlogGuy I used to play Bison and Drop him for Birdie. Bison air stomp can be anti air, his ex air stomp can be stop upon reaction, his walk speed is trash. His bicycle kick can be grab or command grab by Mika or Birdie. His slide, once you block it you can grab him. The only thing Bison can do is put you in the corner to pressure frame trap you. ..

These top pros are all so good. It’s just a matter of who’s on that day. Anyone can win at anytime. Tokido is a legend. Punk should just stick with Karin, it’s his best character. Changing would be a mistake.

Punk is a phenomenal player but he has a really bad habit of overthinking and letting his nerves get to him. The grand finals at Evo 2017 was the worst example of it... had it in his hands and choked once he lost confidence even arguably being the best player in the world. So it makes sense he panicked at the Karin nerfs and made a mistake of abandoning her at Evo. Hopefully lesson learned. Just because your main gets nerfed a bit doesn't mean you should abandon them when you were DOMINATING with them the entire time.
